River Art Group Inc — Attraction in San Antonio

I am a mixed media artist who was encouraged to apply to be a member here by one of the Board members of the River Art Group Gallery. My work was called "beautiful" by another Board member, so I applied. I completed the application including 3 images of my work, per the instructions, along with my $25 application fee. My application was accepted, and I was told that my work was going on to the Final Jury. My work was rejected at the Final Jury. The reason given was that my frames didn't conform to gallery rules. Gallery rules were not included in the initial application. I wrote a letter to the gallery asking for my money back due to the fact that their application process didn't include the Gallery Rules, and I would have never applied knowing that my art didn't meet the gallery's criteria. I was told that not only would the gallery not be refunding me my application fee but that I was "incompetent" and had embarrassed myself for submitting work that did not conform to the gallery rules. When I appealed to the Board member who had encouraged me to apply, she said there was nothing she could do. I don't know what kind of scam this place is running, but any place that treats prospective artists this way doesn't deserve to be patronized. I only applied because I was encouraged to. Members have to work in the gallery for free, and it's a half an hour drive from my house. Not only did they take my money, but they insulted me to boot. No one has apologized, AND I was recently told that the application process would be fixed going forward to include the Gallery Rules. Great. I was right, they were wrong. But they kept my money.
