Late one night, our plucky, rag-tag gang of merry pedestrians happened upon a restaurant called "Guadalajara". This restaurant was destined to be the place in which we were to consume our nightly meal. It seemed, at first, to be a slightly more than normal prices, but I chose to go for the cheaper item of nachos, in order to conserve funds. However, my happy-go-lucky, gleeful, and miserly entourage decided that it would be best to just split the bill evenly, and then so I ended up paying more than I had previously expected for my more than enough portion of nachos. The bean and cheese nachos were indeed, in fact, quite ravishing. The beans were cooked perfectly, evidently not canned. The cheese was distributed evenly throughout each nacho chip, perfectly layered across the beans. Not too gooey or soggy, the perfect ratio of bean:cheese:chip. The sour cream they provided me with was a succulent addition.
During my stay, I was pleased to notice that the staff was able to provide me with the pleasure of viewing several hats. I am personally satisfied with the selection I perused, but I do have a few minor qualms. For starters, they did not have more than one different style of hat, all they had were sombreros. This would be fine and dandy, except for the fact that I am allergic to wide-brimmed hats. Other than that, they had a wide variety of colors and patterns, which detailed the long and arduous history of the sombrero. Overall, a very informative selection, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in hat history.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and even let me bring my own cake in. This cake was pretty good. I had brought it all the way from the capitol city, and had let it marinate by my feet for a good four hours. After a certain point, I stopped feeling the difference between cake and foot, and it became a holy union of body and pastry. The restaurant was kind enough to blissfully separate this union, and serve it up for me and my pack of...
Read moreReceived terrible service and food here. Was offered a seat at the bar as there was no dining room seating. The server did not bother to wipe off the dirty, sticky bar top and left the crumbs of another diner sitting there for the entire meal. I would have asked him to wipe it down if he wasn't barking questions at me for my order and then running away before I could get a word in about that, or needing one single refill (he didn't bring us water or refill our beverages once which was awesome with spicy food) or the fact that he forgot our table-side guacamole. My tacos came out soggy and inedible due to the excessive amount of liquid that they did not drain off the beef before putting it into the shells. My husband ordered a pork dish and the pork looked like it was lunch meat, it was sliced so thin, and the beans and rice looked like they had been sitting in a steam table too long, so again, barely edible. On our way out, I joked with my husband because I saw our server enjoying a sip from a full beverage, but he couldn't even bring one to his own paying customers. We left and paid without finishing our meals and went back to the Riverwalk to eat at Iron Cactus to get apps since we were still hungry. Before we left the vicinity of the restaurant, we were out front and googling places to go. Not even joking, saw a couple who dined right next to us walk out shaking their heads and gesturing at the restaurant, clearly also not happy with their experience. Now, as a company that wants to franchise other locations, I would be a little concerned that what is probably my flagship site as it is so close to the Riverwalk is giving such terrible customer service and quality food to so many people. For us, we learned our lesson not to just wander into any old restaurant while on vacation but to vet them first rather than waste precious time on our trip having bad...
Read moreWorst restaurant I have ever eat. I don't like to give bad reviews and honestly I feel bad for the owner, but we were a large group and spend su much money in there that I don't think it was fair with us to had such a bad experience. First the drinks; the sangria I ordered was to bitter, the beer was barely cold. The food: I ordered the carnitas, which had an ok taste, however the size of the sides in the plate were ridiculously tiny, I swear the amount of rice could've been as much as two table spoons. My brother in laws rice was cold as it was sitting on the counter for years, after we complained they brought more rice that looked re heated, but was enough to share with me since I got almost no rice. My husband and I ordered a chicken tortilla soup that never came. We told the server and he brought it at the end, still we tried it; it was awful! It looked and taste like water with achiote and no more on it. The soup came with the chicken on the side. This was the worst part of the overall experience; the chicken was so few that we thought they mistakenly brought us a plate with leftovers from other table (or maybe it was, which doesn't make me feel better), we weren't even sure if that was chicken, so we asked the server if that supposed to be there, then he explained it is the chicken that came with the dish. Overall experience was awful, the service was ok, we wait too much time for the food to be served. We were so disappointed and complain with the manager, they didn't charge for the soup and drinks ( we did have to pay for the alcohol) however it wasn't enough to make us feel better after such a...
