Where do I begin? (Long Review)

My husband and I stumbled upon this beautiful hidden gem nuzzled right off the San Antonio River Walk.

The atmosphere gave a speak easy vibe and we were impressed with this being a pizzeria.

Our first server Corbin seated us and explained in great detail the different options they have with us being vegetarian. Needless to say the pizzas were great and made by Cynthia who had a great ear and listen to our needs being vegetarians and you could taste the difference. While eating the manager Shea came and spoke with us providing a meaningful conversation. We shared we were in town because we just had gotten married and he congratulated us with a special treat.

Chef Jess came and spoke with us presenting us with a beautiful Tiramisu. It was beyond exquisite and could eat all day. Were were informed of coming back later from Suzy whom advised that they have shows at around 5pm and we advised we'd come back. Before leaving we thanked Chef Jess again and she advised that she let the night Chef Carlos know whom wrote down our names and expect us to return.

We returned and first saw Chef Carlos who immediately knew who we were. We met the night manager Alicia whom was beyond accommodating and visual to our needs with us not even having to ask. Our waiter a Michael was great and checked when we may have ran low on anything

What we ordered was not on the menu and specially made for us by Chef Carlos and it was beyond amazing. 👌🏽 We then received another Tiramisu with a surprise from the Chef of decorating our plate with a "chocolate" congratulations. It was a beautiful surprise.

Then we decide to return and say farewell with one last meal. We saw Mike again as our waiter and Chef Jess whom created a beautiful vegetarian pasta with broccolini. Everything was great and not just food but EVERYONE we interacted with was easy going, conversationalist and just had warm and beautiful spirits. We wish they had this in Dallas but until we meet again Thank You Fiume Family we feel apart of the family now...

I normally don’t do reviews but my experience was a first. My boyfriend is a big time pizza lover and our daughter inherited this. We have come here a handful of times and had always had a good experience/ atmosphere. My toddler had been asking for pizza so we decided to go in. I’ve been here in the world for 33 years and have been humbled by embarrassment as one does in their lifetime. NEVER have I been parent humbled/shamed. Like most every other 2yr old her mood changes every so often but for the most part we have never had a problem with going out to dine. This day she decided to which isn’t out of the ordinary for a child her age. I tried the whole listen or you’ll get in trouble, bribed her with a cookie, asked her if she wanted to switch to a different area and even the waitress was trying to get her to calm down. The table they sat my family was next to the oven they make the pizzas in which has a window for the servers to collect their tables food. The whole time I’m looking around sorrowful at people because they’re hearing her yell and cause a mini scene. I then look up to the window and just see one of the pizza makers not just slowly close the window but shut it loudly enough to the point it made me feel shameful enough to go outside. We have been here before so I know they keep it open and most definitely not close it the way they did. I’ll never forget this “scene” looking person with gages, bearded, 5 foot sized cook and how they made me feel that day. You will forever be engraved in my mind. Thank you to the waitress who took care of us. She might’ve been upset with us too but never let it show...

This establishment consistently serves what we consider the best pizza in San Antonio. The food is always amazing, and everything we've ordered has been of high quality. The crust is exceptionally well-seasoned, truly unmatched by any other. The pepperonis are large, the cheese is good, and the sauce is also excellent. We've never had any issues with the food itself.

However, our experience with the service today was subpar. Upon arrival, we were seated in an area that unfortunately had several flying insects. We chose to stay, given the heat outside, but it was certainly not ideal. A significant concern arose when our food sat on the serving line for at least 10 minutes, possibly longer, according to my wife. While the food was still warm when we finally received it, I had to get up and visibly look at our order to get the attention of the servers, who seemed to be congregating near the bar. There wasn't much of a personal connection with our server; she wasn't rude, but she wasn't particularly engaging either.

On a positive note, Nico was truly outstanding. He was very personal and kind, asking where we were from and if we enjoyed our meal. His service was a clear highlight. The observation of multiple servers gathered at the bar, especially given the fly issue, made me think about how I would manage my own business. If this were my restaurant and I knew about an insect problem, I'd want to ensure customers felt comfortable or at least be transparent about the plan to address it, so it doesn't seem like the norm.

Ultimately, the food remains excellent, but the service on this particular visit was...

Located right next to the Riverwalk, you'll find Fiume. We initially reserved a table for inside, but outside wouldn't be a bad choice either; as the inside was a bit noisy. We started with the burrata for the app. It was nice and had various different flavors accompany the bread and the mozzarella. I have little to no complaints about it. Though, according to other photos of the dish online from Fiume, the dish may be altered from time to time. Such as their usage of sliced prosciutto instead of crispy prosciutto bits in which we received. On to the pizza! I chose the Funghi, while my partner chose the Classico. The pies came out fresh and had a great presentation. I believe they're all one size, but big enough to satisfy most. Both pies were tasty and had plenty of crunch from the crust and a crisp bite all the way through each slice. Personally for me, I prefer an overall thicker dough. I guess that's just the New Yorker in me (I'm Texan btw). Overall, they were mostly satisfying, but not something I'd be eager to go back to. My wife's sweet tooth came knocking, so she ordered the bread pudding and the cheesecake topped with peaches. Both were disappointing. The bread pudding was not fresh and I had to use a bit of elbow grease to carve my spoon into it. The flavors didn't help either. My wife was a bit more forgiving on the desserts though, so I'd recommend a coin toss if you're interested in trying these. Service was OK. Our waiter was a nice young lad, but lacked any hospitality. Not that we really needed anything during our meal, but it was still noticeable. In the end, we had a good time. 3.8/5
