I have never had a worse experience at a storage facility than this location. Please read this for an honest negative review on Extra Space Storage on City Base Landing and please choose somewhere else for your storage needs.

I will start this review off by saying I never write reviews so for to me to take the time to write this is saying something. I chose this facility for the location convenience and for initial positive experiences from family members that held their items in this storage in short term periods. We were transitioning from another city and needed something ASAP, which this facility accommodated unlike others in the area. That should have been the first red flag as they had a large availability. We originally chose a 10x20 unit with a month rate under 200. The move in process went smoothly and we had no issues for the first three months. After the initial months there, immediately the monthly rate increased to over 250 dollars. Not understanding why there was a change, I reached out to the facility front desk and they state it “their process, we notified you in the mail and it’s to be expected.” Eventually the rates became too much and we down sized to a 10x 10 thinking it would be cheaper option. It was not and we still ended up paying a rate over 200 with their standard rate increases shortly after you sign a new lease.

More so, the facility is so disgusting with trash, filth, and invested with bugs. Despite paying for indoor climate control units thinking that would be cleaner than outside, our items were compromised by bugs and mold. I can 100% swear to anyone reading this I’m am a clean person and regularly treat our home with pest control preventatives. We even used home defense in the unit and we still had bugs in our stuff. Likewise the bathrooms are regularly used by the homeless so there is never any toilet paper and there is filth everywhere.

Additionally , the facility has consistently broken doors, faulty elevators, and you can forget about finding a dolly to move your items.

On a final note, the front desk staff is never available by phone and rarely at the desk. So good luck trying to get a hold of them for your questions, issues...

Arrived to check in at 1:30pm. One elevator out of order. Walk all over to find another elevator. Get to 3rd floor storage unit where I’m told locks and keys are inside. No lock no keys. Wander around to find office entrance. Nobody in office. I text the number listed on the door and wait…………………… it’s over a 1/2 hour and no response. I finally give up and prepare to leave. The main gate does not open as I approach!!!! I must exit my vehicle walk out the gate to manually put in my gate code!! This is utterly ridiculous! This facility is only 4 years old!!! Must have great management operating it!!!

Additional: it’s now 3:50pm still have not had any return calls. I even requested a call back from the district manager. IDK what’s up!!

Here’s the ultimate add on to my review…! I arrive Saturday June 2nd with my full rented Penske truck. Office is unmanned. Both elevators are out of commission. Called the office and was connected to the national call center. They said I would get a call back in 15 minutes. Today, Monday June 3rd they still don’t know when the elevators will be repaired. I’m told that I can get access to 3rd floor through the stairwell to move anything I need. I’ve paid for labor to help on Saturday day and I can’t move stuff on my own. I can’t move my stuff in nor can I move my stuff out. Had to call Penske to extend my truck rental. After numerous calls and getting hung up on, I finally received a call from the district manager and she is willing to “comp my first and second month”. That’s dumb! I’m $300 out of pocket already not including my time and gas!! So this is what I did… I called a different storage facility and was gifted a larger unit for less cost. Where did I take my Penske truck??? @Penske The sign is on the door!!! We walked into Public Storage and low and behold, the GM and District Manager happened to be right at the front desk with smiling faces!!? Okay, y'all...I could ABSOLUTELY go into an extremely long and drawn out description of exactly how the last 18 months have literally been the worst of my entire life, but it's an extremely long, sad and depressing tale and isn't even the point here, so just know that for me the struggle has truly been real. Enter the Extra Space storage on city base landing. Ileana, the manager for this location, has been a storage unit advisor, as well as a shoulder for me to cry on (sometimes, y'all, she has stayed as long as an hour and a half after closing just to talk to me!). Then, as if that didn't make my heart swell enough, she brought in back up in the form of Dondrick, whom she borrowed from another store. I want "us" to keep him at our location forever! These two know their stuff! They can guide you to the right storage option, if you are unsure of your needs. And they truly care about their customers, their facility ( this is the cleanest storage facility I've ever seen), and and being helpful. You simply can't go wrong...
