I want to start off by letting everyone know that I delayed posting my review on this hotel for one week after my stay. Reason being that I left this property with mixed feelings about my stay and wanted to be as objective as possible. Read my review for further details.
Location: This hotel is approximately 5 minutes from the 410/I-37 interchange and less than 2 minutes off I-37. It's in a very remote location, but very easy to find.
Parking lot: Not many people were staying here during my stay most likely because it's a new location. There was adequate parking and it was very well lit. I did not see any security guard on the premises like at other Holiday Inn locations. Maybe this will change once they start receiving more guests.
Lobby: Room key is needed after hours; sign did not say what time. There is a seating area with tv in the lobby in addition to coffee and etc. It appeared very well maintained.
Staff: The person tending to me upon my check in was not very pleasant. She never smiled, did not thank me for being a priority card member and as a matter fact did not say much. The only thing I recall her asking me was, "you booked your reservation a short while ago." I have no idea where this question came from since she had already printed out my receipt and asked me to sign the form.
However, as I was checking out of the hotel the person tending the front desk was very nice. She greeted me with a smile, thanked me for my stay and wished me a nice day. In my opinion these two encounters cancel themselves out making this category "neutral/average".
Room: The room was very clean, but I was surprised at the furnishings. Nearly everything in this room is "unfinished furnishings" with very little color. The only item that stood out to me was the recliner! The recliner was a nice burgundy color with studs all around it. It's a shame that the rest of the room was not as nicely decorated.
The bedding was very comfortable, but I was surprised that all four pillows were "firm". This is the first Holiday Inn that I have stayed at that did not have two soft and two firm pillows. I do not like firm pillows and had to sleep on the edge of the pillow to get the "soft effect'.
My room was located on the first floor and I found it to be a bit noisy. I could hear ever step taken above me and people speaking in the room next door and above me.
Thermostat: Beware of the thermostat! It has pre-settings that will lower and raise the temperature on you. I was not pleased to have the temperature raised from 68 to 72 at 8am or so. This woke me up because I like my room cold and it got a bit too warm for me. I then noticed that you're able to pre-set the settings, which someone had already done, and I was not pleased.
Bathroom: Very clean with a sliding door. No pro's or con's for this category.
Wifi: This location has excellent Wifi service. Strong signal during my entire stay!
Pro's: Location and Wifi service.
Con's: Front desk staff, pillows, thermostat, noise level...
Read moreThis will be rated as a worse place ever to stay for me. We arrive 19 minutes till 3 & we're informed that at 3, we would be allowed to check in. Upon checking in, the individual freaked of Marijuana so strong that her co-worker voiced that she really stinks. After asking for the debit card, she asked for the drivers license & was remembered that she already had the dl. Must have been some mind altering drugs. The manager makes her way about 10 feet & asked if there was a reason my daughter was yelling at her friend. Another patron responded when the manager asked my daughter if they were going to have a problem, the gentleman responded no. The same gentleman had asked for a room transfer at 8 am. I overheard his conversation & here after 3, it was finally happening. After preparing for bed after 9 p.m., we discovered our hide-a-bed sofa was actually just a sofa. When going down to the front desk, the individual who wreaked of pot voiced we got the room we booked. I responded no we do not have a sofa bed. She then informs me they can change our room tomorrow, but they were booked out tonight. I insisted they provide some bedding for said sofa ( no bed). She voiced they can provide a rollaway bed for an additional 20.00. I responded, "Why would I pay again for something I never got." The lady says she will provide bedding shortly & sent me on. A few moments later, she arrives with said roll-away. O my word, seriously. She says I already put the sheet on it for you. I responded, "Thank you. Yet we did not receive a blanket, only 1 additional sheet & 4 pillow cases. People, the rollaway was so incredibly uncomfortable I wouldn't expect a homeless could have slept on it. After a bit, I took my extra sheet & 4 pillow cases and moved to the extra firm sofa (no bed). These people will meet me again tomorrow when I have had very little rest & and am suffering terrible pain. They better be ready bc we have 3 more nights booked. What ever happened to customer service. To think we stay at ihg hotels almost every time we travel. I half want to include a video of the convo tomorrow so you can see the manager who confronted my daughter & was 3x's louder than anybody within the 10ft area. Maybe tomorrow will be name tag day bc they are keeping the names a secret. Still the worst stay ever bc I suffer from fibromyalgia & Rheumatoid Arthritis & trust me when I say hurting means chronic pain level. They did supply a second bed on night 3 that did not have a loose tack inside the plastic. This bed...
Read moreI stayed for 6 days. I'll start with the staff, moment I walked in the lady was friendly and fast, each day or night I saw someone different and no matter who it was they all said "welcome back" each time I entered. At some point I needed a new comforter, got it no problem. I am amazed by the staff they alone deserve 5stars and a raise.
Walked into the room and the cleanliness jumped out at me and the room smelled nice. I was on the top floor and had a great view. Lots of room as well, I mean it literally felt like a second home to me I was so comfortable right away. What amazed me most was the quietness, I didn't hear people roaming the halls being loud or speeding cars rushing by, just quiet. They do have the rooms with the joining doors but they are locked I didn't hear anyone until my last day.
I see people taking away stars for breakfast but I don't think they realize this isn't Denny's or IHOP this is a hotel, they specialize in comfort not breakfast, the breakfast is just a bonus don't expect 5 star meals at a hotel and even considering the breakfast was decent from what I heard I myself just ate the cinnabuns a few mornings..my only compliant would be to have just a litter hotter water because I do love super hot showers. Speaking of the bathrooms they were stocked with towels of different sizes and lotion, shampoo etc...spacious and if you needed anything such as a razor, extra toothbrush or even shaving cream you can ask for it. The bed had lots of pillows and was pretty comfy for me but I feel others would disagree but doesn't take away from the quality.
Everything is nearby from walmart, Target, ice cream stores, restaurants (Applebee's, 54th Street etc...) Movies not far either, I actually hardly left the area most of the time because everything was right there. I only left when needing to meet up with people or going to an event which by the way downtown isn't too far.
Returning at night seemed safe as well, I noticed a good amount of People were either oil workers or maybe some sort of construction workers, basically meaning they got in around 8 and went straight to bed which would explain the quietness. They have a hot tub and pool but I never went so can't comment on it, the elevator is a little slow, but I prefer the stairs because I like to burn calories. I with they would drop the rates just a little. Definitely...
