Longhorn Cafe offers a very casual environment — order at the counter and find a seat at the nice wooden tables and chairs. The order staff was helpful in understanding what came with what and knowledgeable about the many menu items. After ordering, you’ll get your soft drinks or beer. One disappointment was the selection of draft beers. Looking at their website, I expected a wide variety of draft beer, but there were only two. Additional spigots were present, but not in use. There were bottled beers, but the selection of drafts was inadequate for a place touting that as a selling point. Soft drinks are self serve.
When your order is ready, you will be called with a loudspeaker. VERY loud when I was there. Obnoxiously loud. Fortunately there weren’t many diners when I was there - relatively early in the evening dinner hours...
OK — food. That’s what we’re really there for. I ordered a Club Sandwich and a half basket of tater tots.
The sandwich may have been one of the best I’ve ever eaten. For perspective, club sandwiches have been my go-to item anytime I see it on a menu since I was a kid, so I KNOW MY CLUB SANDWICHES.
It was built in the traditional style - 3 pieces of toasted bread with ingredients divided between, cut in quarters with a toothpick holding each quarter together. The bread was perfectly toasty/crispy, and the makings cool and fresh. Meat and vegetables were very fresh. I did not need to add any seasonings or additional condiments. Excellent sandwich.
Tater tots were pretty good. Don’t laugh but my standard for tater tots is Sonic. These were a bit of a notch below, due to a notable oil taste — don’t know if it was the type of oil or what, but the taste didn’t quite meet my expectations. Did I eat them all? YES!
The verdict: All in all, a great, laid back joint with a good selection of eats and an acceptable selection of beers. I would go back...

After my mother's memorial service, our family needed a place to gather—somewhere casual, comforting, and accommodating. We found all that and more at Longhorn Cafe at City Base, thanks to the incredible leadership of General Manager Mason and his outstanding staff.
From the moment I spoke with Mason, his compassion and professionalism stood out. He assured me that they would do everything possible to support our family, even offering to stay open later if needed. We prepaid our orders and called ahead as we left the church. When we arrived, every meal was fresh, hot, and ready—served with care and efficiency that made a difficult day feel just a little lighter.
The food was excellent, but what truly set this experience apart was the warmth of the staff. Many came over to personally pay their respects, checking in on us throughout the evening. Mason graciously allowed us to stay past closing time so we could take photos and share quiet moments together. That kind of hospitality is rare—and unforgettable.
I have nothing but the utmost respect for Mason and the entire team at Longhorn Cafe. Their kindness, attention to detail, and genuine care for our family made a lasting impression. If you're looking for a place to host a gathering, celebrate, or simply enjoy a great meal with people you love, I wholeheartedly recommend Longhorn Cafe at City Base.
Thank you, Mason, and thank you to every staff member who made that evening so meaningful. You gave us more than a meal—you gave us comfort, dignity, and a space to honor...
Read moreWe have ate here before and it was wonderful. Today was beyond the worst experience ever. We ordered at 7, we sat down and about 20 minutes our appetizer comes out wonderful. 25 more minutes go by We look over and the 3 people who were in line behind us all had there food and appetizers. 1 of them ordered the same as us. So I walk up there to ask and the guy placing the plates on the counter says oh its right here we were confused we didn't know who it belonged to so we just left it waiting for someone to come up. Mind you for the appetizer our name was called but not for our meal. We ordered chicken fried steak, okra, and green beans. 2nd plate was chicken fried chicken, mash potatoes, and okra. Both plates had the okra and just the chicken fried chicken and steak no gravy no green beans and no mash potatoes. The guy behind the counter proceeds to tell the cook they through this in the microwave to warm it up for them. Like WTF!!!! So we go to the register and apparently there's no manager and the guy at the register asked the guys what happend and they wanted to pack it for us to take home. Again WTF!!! So we asked for our money back and we get a receipt that shows reprint $0.00 and it will take 3-5 business days. Beyond the worst experience and to tell the customer oh we were confused so we left it sit there but hey let's put it in the microwave. WOW!!!! To top it off they were not busy nor did they act like they cared that...
