Do not care about their drivers. Always telling drivers that if they mess up a little or call in, they're fired. Driver still in training assigned route and when they were uncomfortable driving the route due to multiple construction and detours on the route told to do it anyway or get fired. When driver resigned, they were told they couldn't list the resignation reason because it would reflect badly on the training staff. Very inconsistent training staff. They tell new drivers different instructions and way to do things. Drivers told they may have to drive as many as 13 hours without break or lunch. "That's just how it is" Drivers driving for 8 hours then given 3 hours off and assigned another 5 or more hour shift due to inadequate staffing. Have to question how legal their rules are considering US Department of Labor states that you get at least 30 minute lunch break after 6 hours of work but VIA doesn't recognize this or falsely tells staff they can't stop the bus for breaks or lunch. If they do that's an "incident" and they will be fired. Just a shady organization. No wonder local citizen have a low opinion of the drivers. They're treated like dirt by...
Read moreThere should be signs warning people to ride at their own risk because if something happens to you, you are on your own.
Took a hard fall on a bus when the driver slammed on the brakes while I was walking to a seat. Driver didn't stop until he got to the end of the line. He insisted he didn't know I'd fallen. I had a very large bruise forming on my forehead, my right shoulder hurt, and my right wrist and hand were swollen.
They finally called EMS. The apparent lead claimed the egg sized bruise on my head was "just a bump" and I was not "EMS transportable". He called me a scammer and the team left.
VIA would not offer me transportation to an ER other than to tell me to take a bus.
I ended up taking Uber to an ER, where the staff was horrified at how I had been treated. Their first concern was making sure there was no brain swelling or bleeding.
Had a CT scan of my head and x-rays of my hand, wrist, and shoulders.
I will be sharing the results with my doctor and certain other individuals.
But yeah - VIA doesn't care about the people who use...
Read moreMy major experiences with VIA Transportation has mostly been negative. As a disabled cliente, they have whether demonstrated to be neglectful on am on-going basis. They show up late 30 mins late or 1-2 hours late, where I have to cancel my medical appointments or they drop me off an hour too late or they drop me off two hours too early refusing to accommpdate me for an earlier return ride home. They day well you agreed to the drop off AND my replay Is ,y agreed drop off Time wss two hours later AND your drivers says, I has cancellatoons AND I need to go home, but VIA TRANSPORTATION refuses to accommpdate or take responsibility & make disabled people be stranded for hours even after me ssking for a courtesy ride explaining my injuries, where I can not stand for too long fue to fractures or physical limitations. This has happened too Manu times AND they don't offer Amy other options, leading me to believet they don't care. It appears their Marín objective Is getting...
