Read moreA must, Must, MUST!!! I came here once many moons ago as a young teenager but I honestly don’t recall it being this Awesome and Beautiful! The City of San Antonio has done a GREAT Job with this public pool location; it definitely should be the poster-child for other pools! Great Sitting Spaces surrounding the entire pool which is about 2-3 football fields in length; the pool offers tons of shade with all the beautiful trees that surround the pool area within the pool gates; you get the standard free Access and good customer service at the Entrance; the Lifeguards are fairly Friendly and will engage you if spoken to; and the overall park offers a Wonderful Park Experience to include the San Pedro Playhouse (go see Grease!)! But I can’t say enough about the Pool’s Wonderfulness—it’s so Grand; so Spacious; so Accommodating; and so much more can be offered (like food or vending options or even music or a retail store) if the City is willing! Great Job City of SA—what a Great Display of our tax dollars at work! My grandson totally LOVED this place and has been asking to go back soon! Thank COSA—keep up the...
Read moreA few weeks ago was the first time I read about San Pedro Springs Park and how it's the second oldest park in the U.S. (after Boston Commons). My husband who is originally from San Antonio had not known that and never been there before.
We had tried to visit a couple of different times but it had been too hot. This past weekend we were already close to it so we decided to stop by. The parking lot for the park is shared with San Pedro Playhouse. I hadn't realized that the park was as large as it was. Many mature trees which provided much shade. It would be a great place to have a picnic even just sitting on the grass. On the other side of the park, there are concrete/stone picnic tables. The pool looked very inviting on a hot day but there was quite a line so we didn't wait. That's the only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars - I didn't get to swim.
As some others have mentioned in their reviews, there were some homeless people there but it didn't bother me. There was enough space for everyone.
I definitely want to go back to enjoy the pool. Definitely a good summer spot to cool off! Highly...
