The same happened with my dad as the guy below. He was told that they had canceled his membership but they charged him for an entire year and refused to refund any of the money. They also defaulted my sister's membership to a weekly rate charge which almost doubled her bill. Facility wise: Pluses. Great if you play racquetball, like to swim, or play basketball Plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, bicycles People are generally friendly The use of Cape and Naples locations are included as well. (The Naples one is awesome)
Minuses. I would bet a free year there that they oversold their membership capacity -peak times are extremely difficult to get on equipment. Normal are not terrible but can be hit or miss -You can expect the equipment to be dirty as one janitor covers the entire building and the antibacterial measures available to members consist of roll of paper towels and a 30 pump dispenser of soapy water
:initial locker room (mens) is very nice, but the showers are lacking I was a member at Omni off of boyscout originally and figured I would give L.A. a shot, but I will switching back as soon as my prepaid months expire.
Omni: +Probably half the size yet staffs two janitors and stocks purell pre moistened wipes all over the place so people actually take the time to use them. +I guarantee the showers are bigger than your walk in closet, complete with a bench in each shower. Though there are less, they typically are available. +Modern equipment that is relevant. At L.A. some dumbbell benches don't convert positions (like 4 or 5) whereas all are universal at Omni. In my opinion Omni is just a smarter layout with less wasted space. L.A. is square shaped with a 25-75 walkway split while Omni has a rhombus like walkway in around that encloses the majority of the equipment while the remainder is strewn across the outlying edges. AKA getting to the next machine isn't like trying to machete your way through a rainforest of people and equipment. +Ladies: Vincent Salon and Spa is connected for your hair and nails. The owner is a great guy
Smaller (if that is a minus for you) No racquetball, basketball, or swimming Can get busy during peak hours as well, but does not have the oversold feel Slightly more expensive if you just say yes to whatever price they put...
Read moreI have been a LA fitness member for 30-40 yrs(30-40?). Started in Pa,then NJ,now in FtMyers. This facility is the best by far as one would expect as it is probably the newest, and I would happily recommend it as â5â,if not for The aggressive nature of itâs trainers. In the past week I have been set upon by two, both times on a weekend and been practically berated for doing an excercise wrong.! Each time it was my first effort at my first excercise! The seat wasnât warm yet! Each time I was told the same BS! That I was going to destroy my back. I pointed out to these two that I have been doing this for 30 -40 yrs. My back is fine and I would prefer to be left alone and NOT receive any advice from them. They persisted to the point that I was getting upset and I pleaded with them to leave me alone. They persisted, and accused me of being rude to them! I was so exasperated by their obvious indifference to my desire for them to leave me alone, that I was about to walk out and never come back to that facility! I decided that the hell with these idiots,I pay for my membership,I have not broken any club rules,i will proceed with this set, then go to the reception desk and tell the young lady there of my wish to be left alone and enjoy my workout. As soon as I started to relate my complaint,a knowing look came on her face. She told me that I was NOT the first to complain, and even knew the names of the two before i gave them to her! She asked if her manager could call me on Monday. I definitely agreed. I have NEVER experienced a similar experience in all the years I have been a member! I will be kind and not reveal the two culpritsânames. But I will to the manager! If not for these two idiots,I would have rated LA Fitness a 5. Incidentally,My back is fine and I attribute my routine for this! I also mentioned to the first perpetrator that I was a retired orthopedist! Didnât relieve me of his tirade! I sincerely hope that I will be spared of this idiocy in the future,so that I can remain a...
Read moreWhen it comes to the overall facilities, LA Fitness cannot be matched. They have all the amenities you can ask for; pool, raquetball, basketball, weights, the whole gamut. But like all companies that "claim" to be service oriented, they fall drastically short. Due to financial restrictions, I could no longer afford to work out here. I called and asked about the proper steps to cancel my membership and in return was told I needed to come in, no cancellation could be completed over the phone. I soon complied and spoke with one of the front desk associates. I asked to speak with a manager about cancelling my membership but was told that she could help me right there. She simply scanned my keychain pass, clicked the mouse a few times and told me I was all set. I asked if that was all it took, and she replied "Yes". I was given no receipt and never sent an email confirmation for my actions. I then asked about a refund for the last month (the billing date was 3 days prior to my cancelling) and was informed that there would be no money back but that I could use the facilities for the next 30 days. After checking my most recent bank statement, I soon discovered that the girl I spoke with clearly was not the right person. I was again charged and when I called to speak with a Manager, they checked the computer and found NOTHING in their system about my previous actions. All they could see is that my pass had been scanned on the day in question. In conclusion I was given a west coast number to Member Services and told I can speak with someone who has "more authority". Since I have no proof that my cancellation (on both ends) went through, I am confident at the end of this process, I will simply be out more money. The only new information that could be mustered up was that the proper person WAS WORKING that day and could've helped me. Thanks for nothing LA....
