Always enjoy the park at Civitas. The bronzes all around are my favorite. We went to the farmer's market on Saturday. We will definitely be going again. It's so clean, restrooms are available, the park is bearutifu, it's very kid friendly with a water pad and different activities. Dogs are welcome but not allowed in the water pad area.
GO HUNGRY!! The vendors give samples! I highly recommend trying everything you can! Don't miss the Ecuadorian chocolates from Hacienda San Jose. They are so much better and smoother than Hawaiian chocolates. Baba Foods has a huge selection of dips and yogurts. The Worldly Whisk has incredible baked goods that are soooooo delicious! My favorite is the pecan, cinnamon, sticky bun with caramel. Buy two--you'll thank me when you finish the first one. (Sadly, I only bought one and I was wishing for another to have in the morning with coffee.) The Sourdough and Moore bread must be wonderful because he was basically sold out. There's a cute couple from the country of Georgia at Aromati Georgian and Eurasian Cuisine making very interesting soda--Tarragon or Red Basil and Lemon. Their pizza is very good with lots of cheese in two different layers. Here's a few of the items you can buy or services offered: healthy and lush plants for inside or out; fresh produce locally grown; get a massage; get acupuncture; there's sushi; Crepe on a Stick has both sweet and savory crepes; a Filipino food vendor has breakfast, lunch, snacks and sweet dishes; another vendor specializes in Bao; there's Thai; Gyros of all types; refreshing Acai combos; and so much more!!!
Oh! I almost forgot one of the strangest things I've ever seen. Clearly identifiable, freeze dried and dehydrated chicken and turkey heads as doggie treats. There were lots of other treats available but my brain...
Read moreThis is a great park. It's a bit of a trek up to the playground, especially if you park at the end of the parking lot, since it's on a slightly ascending hill. It's not difficult to go up on but it's not a straight course to the playground. There are two playground, one for 2-5 year olds and the one for 5 and up. There's also a sand box with some logs to climb on. There's lots of various places, like walls, grass areas and trails, for the kids to climb on. There is shaded seating near the two playgrounds and lots of bathrooms as well as sinks to wash your hands. The bathrooms are clean and they don't smell which is not something you can say of all parks. There's a petanke court and three small basketball courts. There's also a splash pad but that was closed when we went. Lots of grass areas for picnics but these are not shaded. There's lots of smaller trees but they're not big enough to provide a ton of shade. There's a trail of stairs that lead to a tunnel with a great view of the city, a great view and a great mural that allows for awesome picture opportunities. This is a great park with small gardens, a red tractor to climb on, hidden bunny sculptures, a stream going from the top to the bottom of the park.Benches and seating on the upper level of the park.Lots of succulents and flowers to look at too. Lots of paved road for bikes and scooters. There isn't a lot of parking for the park but there is parking 2 hour parking on the street. Great for families with kids or for couples looking for a...
Read moreCivita Park is a wonderful place to go alone, with that special someone, with children and with furry friends.
I started going back when it was first developed and only consisted of what is now just the lowest level. The lowest level has a large grassy area that is divided into levels, a water pad with multicolored lights (which wasn't running this last time I was there--perhaps due to COVID-19), giant chess boards, benches with overhangs on which beautiful wisteria vines have comfortably made their homes, picnic tables and a BBQ grill.
It has been over a year since my last trip to Civita and I was in awe of the beautiful expansion. Now, there are several levels to the park and one has an expansive play structure area, there is a spot that would be fantastic for birthday parties or other group event as there is a VERY long picnic table. There are also private, enclosed areas with a picnic table each, where families or small groups can come together without having to worry about maintaining social distance from others. The highest level has what almost looks like a stage area and a big metal frame in which people can stand for photo opportunities.
Civita Park is truly a gem and I highly recommend seeing it for yourself. You can pack your own prepared food, bring food to grill on the built in grills or pick up food at one of the many nearby...
