Passed by on our daily dog walk and realized today was the grand opening, so we stopped in and ate at one of the two outdoor tables. Won’t comment on service since they’ll need time to train their staff and get a groove.
Fish quality was very high, big chunks highlighting the quality rather than minced, and all ingredients were fresh as can be. The layout and ordering process is pretty standard, pick a size bowl (regular or large), base, protein, sauces, toppings. Avocado is included!
The seasoning of the fish is pretty interesting, it’s different oils and soy sauce. I liked the clean/simple flavor rather than being coated in overly salty and sweet sauces like other spots.
Love that there is a fresh and healthier alternative to the taquitos place that has been the only other restaurant on the street, the only drawback is the price really. $17 for a regular (3 scoops), $18 for the large (4 scoops), it’s pretty pricey to have frequently but I believe the cost is commensurate to...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place since it’s right by my work, but I won’t be returning. The poke is basic, nothing to get excited about, unfortunately. I gave it a star for freshness. But the main reason for the 2 stars is the scoop size. Your “3 scoops” are equivalent to 3 teaspoons. I started eating, and I was done with the fish portion in two bites! I’m thinking, where the heck did all the sashimi go?? Oh, I ate it already. 😭 Also, no masago (?!!), none of the mayo sauce options… and pricy for the amount of protein you get. Pretty sure all 3 scoops didn’t even add up to 1 oz. Overall, the meal made me sad and I ended up throwing it away once I ate all the fish. On top of that, I think I was charged for avocado. It should be posted if you charge extra for something.
(As a side note, I’m not alone about the tiny scoop size. While I was there, a customer came in, scoffed at the owner’s baby scooper, pointing out how small the portion...
Read moreOne of the few places where you get value for your dollar. Customizable bowls and the service was excellent. They were quick, courteous, and also made sure to wash hands, use gloves, and proper hygiene, which is very much appreciated in a place that handles seafood. I've seen cheaper prices elsewhere, but if you're not too hungry you can easily split your small size bowl into three meals. They will give you a decent amount of your proteins and toppings, a welcome contrast from a certain popular customizable-bowl-chain that has been skimping recently! I liked that they offered a variety of drinks, too. Only criticism would be more seating and better seating arrangements, as it feels awkwardly placed. If they get bigger I'd suggest more cafe tables out front, bar with stools by the window, and center the seating towards the front. Will...
