I enjoy this open space every time I go. They provide blankets in the shade of the trees. There are tables and chairs and also large benches. There are bathrooms nearby and during the markets there is always plenty of delicious food to choose from. The elote (Mexican corn) and the donuts are favorites of ours and the Indian food is also very good but there is so much more to choose from. Smoothies to ice cream, bar b que to noodles, you can always find something you might like. My son always has a great time running around the open air market and most of the time there is a corn hole game set up on the lawn which he loves. The only drawback in my opinion is the fact that it is right on a busy main street downtown and parking is a hassle. But, there are pay and park lots around. With that said I recommend visiting the market at least once. For a more frequent play situation the waterfront park up the street is a great alternative!

2022 Food Truck Month, Part 1 Every journey begins with a first step and we chose Lane Field Park for ours. Located on the corner of Broadway and Harbor in San Diego, California, it was there that we caught up with “Gnarly Nachos & Tacos.” We sampled the California Burrito Nachos, hot dog, and tater tots. While each were pretty good, we wouldn’t recommend exercising any sizable effort to sample them for yourselves. Good to know: Lane Field used to be the home of the San Diego Padres from 1936-1957 (when they competed in the Pacific Coast League and before they joined Major League Baseball as a franchise). Also good to know: Lane Field Park hosts a market each weekend that features both food and shopping options, a DJ, and that beloved Pacific Ocean breeze. And that’s…Henry’s Take. #sandiegofoodtrucks

This is the weekend spot for your food truck fix! Now, the parking Downtown is a challenge in general, but if you're willing to take a few more steps, there are some great spots, cheap or FREE, especially on Sundays. Gotta keep your eyes open! Go hungry and patient. There's also a fantastic coffee truck, Yipao, so you don't have to wait on the crowd at the Starbucks. One negative: the restroom situation leaves A LOT to be desired, so again, be aware.
