22nd Market is the ideal neighborhood grocery store. It has a wide variety of fresh fruits and veggies, all of which are less expensive than the nearest commercial grocery chain. One example: fuji apples here are 99 cents/lb, compared to 199 c/lb at Safeway. Not only are the prices better, but the selection is also fare more exotic than you'll find at chain stores. 22nd Market boasts nearly 10 types of tubers (regular potatoes, red yellow and fingerlings varieties, sweet potatoes, orange and purple yams, etc) and several fruits I haven't seen elsewhere.
In addition to cheap quality produce, this place is full of assorted imported goods that you won't find elsewhere. Grape leaves, Israeli desserts, Greek chocolate wafers, Thai chili mangoes, and more!
If only this place had meat (there's a butcher 1 block west on Irving btw), it would be the only grocery store I...
Read moreBEWARE!!!! An employee will FALSELY ACCUSE YOU OF STEALING after you have purchased from and left this store for well over a half an hour. Purchased from here and walked over to other stores down the street to do some more grocery shopping and walked past this place to go home only to be stopped by one of the employees. First off, if you suspect someone of stealing, you stop them before they leave the store! NOT MUCH LATER WHEN THEY'RE WALKING PAST OUTSIDE. At that point, you shouldn't have any right to stop someone and accuse them. I did have my receipt and gave it to him to keep. He didn't say a thing. No apology, nothing. Pathetic. There's no point purchasing from here when there are six other grocery stores nearby that are cheaper than this place. If you do still intend on shopping here, make sure you take and keep your receipt or you could be next to be...
Read moreIt looks as if the manager has no idea about COVID-19. Has no disinfectant, not even try to pretend that he cared about his customers. The manager does not wear a mask. There were at least 35 people in the store so, I very politely mentioned that he should limit the number of people into the store at any time. I added like other stores you should let people line-up outside, and let them in turn. He responded, "Do not come in if it is too crowded for you". If you care about your health do not go there. This is absurd that, there should be different regulation for him when other merchants are following the number of patronage. Ignorance, Greed, and Carelessness at the cost of his employees, and...
