Fine Art Conservation and Restoration — Attraction in San Francisco

Due to shipment and storage in poor conditions, I had an oil painting painted in 1965 start flaking and bubbling very badly. I was pretty heartbroken as the painting is lovely though not valuable. First I took it to one conservationist and he repaired it (supposedly) but it continued to flake. I wouldn't go back to him to throw good money after bad. Then I found Sysphere. Sy took me into his studio, showed me his recent work, photos and books of work he has done to date restoring countless art objects (painting and sculpture) for the most important museums in the world and also explained his process in detail to me, After an hour, at least, in essence proving to me that he was legit, I left my painting with him. He subsequently showed me photos of the repair process and when I picked it up, it was perfect. Then he wrapped it delicately in bubble wrap to protect it on my ride home. I came to Sysphere with a 1890s lithograph of the Folies-Bergère - Les Demoiselles du XXe Siecle. The the 100 year old artwork by Louis Trinquier-Trianon had belonged to my mother and it was badly damaged with multiple tears in the paper, with some pieces missing. Sy told me that he could restore it and he did exactly that! His conservation artwork is 2nd to none. The damages are completely gone, and he was able to mount the lithograph onto an acid-free backing. He is easy to work with, friendly, and filled with wonderful stories of the art world.

Sy is an art historian and a consummate artist himself. He generously shared some of his own paintings/drawings with me and they are quite special. He has such a wonderful eye for composition, imagery, color, and detail -- it's no wonder that he was able to bring my lithograph back to life so beautifully. I’m so so happy to have found Sy. I purchased two 19th century paintings from a thrift store that both needed a fair amount of restoration. My first time ever time researching businesses in this arena, I came across Sy’s website and decided to give him a call. He was so patient and kind with all of my questions, and had no problem sitting down with me to go over everything he felt should be done to bring both paintings back to life.
