small coffee shop catering to you serving breakfast sandwiches table out front, friendly staff,/UPDATE as of August 1st they changed their tip process in the machine to take 30 60 or 90% tip is the option shown to you when trying to make a purchase on the machine, I do not think that a college kid that are still going through puberty need 80 cents on every dollar that I spend on the cheapest cup of coffee, I think that that is some type of deliberate scam on the customers that are unaware and our financially secure because the majority of their customers do not actually work they hang out at their shop at 9-10 11-00 in the morning seems to be prime time and so in a very wealthy neighborhood so maybe they're just trying to take advantage of rich people, but I work hard for a living and my dollar matters, every single time I go there I tip and now is a matter of fact I am going to STOP tipping because as I consider it I think that MY TIPS ARE NOT APPRECIATED, if they need 80 cents on every dollar of mine when I buy a coffee I feel that that is a GREEDY business, the barista told me that the management owner is in charge of this and it is ran by square and that they possibly update without the owners or barista's knowledge, well I have let the baristas know that their machine is now charging me or wanting me to pay 80 cents of every dollar that I spend on a tip and that the management is now on notice that I will no longer be tipping because I feel the management is taking advantage of its customers, the service and the products are good and worth waiting for and everything there is very unique and handmade catered to each individual, and in modern day world is absolutely normal that is how you should treat all customers so as the barista said we do not expect tips, and you will no longer be getting one from me as a message statement to the management, if my own company does this to my customers and my customers complain to me I will absolutely understand that they are also being defrauded by expecting to pay 10$ to 20 dollars in a tip for a $30 service scam scam scam...

From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the delightful aroma of freshly brewed coffee, complemented by the lush greenery that fills the space, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere.
I recently tried their horchata latte and a blueberry danish, and both were absolutely delightful. The horchata latte was a perfect blend of creamy and spicy, with just the right amount of sweetness--definitely a unique and refreshing twist on a classic coffee drink. The blueberry danish was fresh and flaky, with a generous filling of sweet, tangy blueberries that paired perfectly with the latte.
The abundance of plants adds a refreshing and vibrant touch to the decor, making Rise and Grind not just a coffee shop, but a green oasis in the city. The seating is all outside, providing a wonderful alfresco experience that lets you enjoy your coffee in the fresh air. The cozy outdoor seating areas, bathed in natural light, provide the perfect setting for working, studying, or simply unwinding with a great cup of coffee.
What sets Rise and Grind apart is its dog-friendly policy. It's heartwarming to see patrons enjoying their coffee while their furry friends relax by their side. A special shoutout to Kevin, the barista who made my visit extra special. His friendly demeanor and expert coffee-making skills ensured that my horchata latte was perfectly crafted. His warm and attentive service truly enhanced my experience.
In summary, Rise and Grind is a must-visit for anyone seeking exceptional coffee and pastries in a beautiful, plant-filled, and dog-friendly environment. It's a place where you can truly relax and savor every sip, with your furry friend by your side. Five stars...
Read moreThis coffee place used to be a favourite of mine to get a tasty specialty coffee (the creme brulé , and cookie butter lattes being a personal favourite in the past) and wander through GG park, however it is slowly becoming more and more of a mess in the shop (cardboard boxes piled up, Costco dog food boxes stacked next to coffee, staff shuffling around the piles of stuff struggling to get around too - just a general mess). I most recently took family to this shop while in GG park, we ordered hot chocolate and whopper lattes, I don't know if they were out of chocolate that day but the hot chocolate tasted of sugary milk, and the latte only tasted of malted milk - couldn't even taste the coffee and definitely no chocolate flavour as promised in the drink description. Has really great potential with a nice location and good coffee blends but could do with a tidy and some more work on chocolate...
