First and foremost, I'd like to clarify that this review is not intended to criticize or discredit this gym, but rather to provide constructive feedback that could potentially lead to improvements and an enhanced experience for all members.
Upon moving to the area last year and having a baby, we were in search of a gym that offered daycare facilities. Despite our neighbors' reservations about this gym and their recommendations to join LA Fitness, we opted for this gym due to its proximity and exceptional daycare services. The staff at the daycare are incredibly friendly, attentive, and ensure that all the children are well cared for. This environment has also provided our child with the opportunity to develop social skills from a young age. We have been members of this gym for over a year now, and while there are numerous positive aspects, there is certainly room for improvement. The gym boasts a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and well-maintained facilities, including clean bathrooms and saunas. Although some of the equipment is dated, it still functions effectively. The gym also offers amenities such as a heated LED sauna and massage chairs, which are available to members with a higher tier of membership. However, there are several areas where this gym could benefit from enhancements. The current layout of the machines is quite cramped, making it difficult to move between rows and access different equipment. A more spacious arrangement would significantly improve the user experience. While the cardio machines are in good condition, the stair masters often malfunction, although the gym is prompt in addressing these issues. As for the classes, they are only offered in the mornings and not on Sundays, which may not cater to those with typical 8-5 jobs. Introducing afternoon and after-work classes would be more inclusive for a wider range of members.
The sauna's temperature has been a consistent issue for some members, myself included, as it does not get hot enough to induce a satisfying sweat. Addressing this problem would greatly enhance the sauna experience. Additionally, the classroom remains closed on Sundays, which can be disappointing for those who prefer to follow their own workout routines. Keeping the classroom open on Sundays would be a welcome change. The gym's outdoor area features a sled but lacks shade, making it uncomfortable during hot weather. How about creating an epic outdoor workout zone like 24 Hour Fitness UTC La Jolla? Their outdoor area is always bustling with people enjoying the sunshine while getting fit. Even if you just add a sun shade for a cool spot under the sun, and some Olympic barbells and sleds to pump up the energy. It's a game-changer!Outdoor fitness lovers will flock to your gym for that sweet Vitamin D and scenic views. Plus, your regular members will enjoy a refreshing change of pace. In conclusion, this gym has tremendous potential for growth and improvement. As someone who has experienced various gyms, including 24hr Fitness, LA Fitness, EOS, Gold's Gym, and Planet Fitness, I feel well-equipped to evaluate what constitutes a good gym. By addressing the areas mentioned above, this gym could surpass the nearby LA Fitness and attract a more diverse clientele. âââââââ------------- 06/23/2023 Adding some updates on my previous review. This gym just earned a serious round of applause from yours truly! They've upped their game with some killer new machines that are more glute-focused. We've now got outdoor workout machines and Olympic barbells, plus some free weights for good measure. They plan on adding some sunshades, which will be a real game-changer in the summer months. Missing pieces would be to have yoga class in the afternoon or leaving the classroom open on Sundays (even if it's just in the morning) so people can do their own workout routine. Bottom line - we're not going anywhere, definitely not switching to LA Fitness or anything. This gym gets my full stamp of approval & highly...
Read moreI truly loved this gym. The staff was usually pretty friendly and helpful the bathrooms were never disgusting. My favorite part albeit the ONLY part of the gym I used was the bike room and I understand that it wasnât used to its full potential and that room rarely saw guests but I was there using it every morning riding through the streets of Italy it was a nice way to start the morning. Anyway they paved the room for the weight guys like they didnât have enough room and put the bikes in the âballroomâ. I would typically go at about 4-5am the ballroom is closed at that time so for a while I was forced to come in at a time I hated just to use the equipment when the room was unlocked. The very day the bikes were dumped in there, there were two guys setting up tripods to film and take pictures of them flexing. Tbh Iâm all for it be proud of what youâve accomplished⌠but to just have people in an uncomfortable situation and film it was definitely not cool for me. And I certainly didnât have that problem in the bike room. I did mention being super uncomfortable being filmed to the front desk and was met with a shrug. I understand some people donât see this as a bad thing but it made me so uncomfortable I ended my workout within minutes of him setting up next to me and I think a shrug as a response was NOT so cool. The fact that there was no longer the bike room and to use the bikes Iâd have to go in hours after I normally would, I had decided to no longer continue service. And as others have said it is the BIGGEST pain to cancel which is so sad concerning they donât listen to the concerns of the patrons ended up having to cancel the card I used which caused them to harass me over the phone. Iâd get two calls a day one automated and one live lady (always the same lady) I told her repeatedly that I wanted to cancel I spoke with people in the building and spoke with her she kept insisting I owe them money to the point I just hug up and stopped answering I still received two calls a day for the next two+ months. Anyway all in all it wasnât that dirty if a place and for the most part staff was helpful/kind and the equipment was in decent shape pretty cool they have a pool. The movie room is always super warm and not an enjoyable experience. I truly miss the bike room as it made exercise so much fun. I had felt amazing before the only thing keeping me there was destroyed and Iâm still not...
Read moreThis gym is a serious health hazard and needs immediate attention.
There is absolutely no excuse for the conditions at this Powerhouse Gym. The place needs to be shut down, cleaned from top to bottom, restaffed under new management, and completely refitted with safe, functional equipment. Itâs disgusting and dangerous â no exaggeration.
Thereâs visible mold, roaches, and bodily fluids in and around the pool. Equipment is dangerously old and broken, and safety hazards are everywhere. The smell alone makes me feel like I might catch something just walking in â let alone touching anything.
Thereâs no way this facility is being inspected regularly. If they are, someoneâs not doing their job â or management is sweeping it under the rug. With the money this gym must be bringing in, it should look at least half as clean and maintained as a basic Esporta or Planet Fitness. They could literally make it presentable with basic cleaning supplies from Dollar General and some low-budget upgrades, but they donât. That tells me someoneâs likely pocketing money instead of investing in basic hygiene and safety for members.
Iâm giving this facility one last chance to make real changes. If nothing is done immediately, Iâll be reporting it to: ⢠The local health department ⢠City safety/code enforcement ⢠The Better Business Bureau ⢠And possibly the State Attorney General
This isnât a personal grudge â itâs a matter of public health and member safety. I sincerely hope someone in management takes this seriously before...
