This is my third review. Arthur is fantastic! He has a unique, blended repertoire of modalities that hit exactly the right spots. I've been in genuine pain for a while now and haven't been able to go for massage. Today's 90 minutes did the trick. Both soothing and rehabilitating (he has this trick where it feels like tiny people are ice skating all over a given spot that really works!) at the same time. Even though the bass guitar from next door provides the overture to the soothing massage music, you don't even care because Arthur gets you into that zone of relaxation where a bomb could go off and you'd say, "Whatever." This is a great place for a low key, spontaneous massage treatment.
This is my second posting, as John is no longer there. Vicky was a gem. Heavy in the stretching and Thai elements of massage, light on "deep tissue," but plenty strong enough to manipulate your muscles to the degree you prefer. A very nice way to spend 90 minutes.
-- Random selection from Yelp. At first, I wasn't sure this was exactly what I had wanted. I signed up for a 90-minute deep tissue massage, but practitioner John, went in very gently and I thought I was bound for a Swedish massage instead (which has happened numerous times in my massage history). Instead, this guy combines every trick in the book to do what is necessary to resolve an issue with your body, in my case, a rock-hard knot in my upper back. He came in gentle, then progressed to aggressive, slow, fast, stretched me around (I assume this is the Thai component), and dug in, and by the time I was done, I almost felt "cured!" I frequently have a massage for its mental benefits, but in this case, the physical reason I was there, was addressed and almost eliminated (it's a long-term problem so "almost" was a huge accomplishment). I was given a discount without asking for it, promptly served upon arrival, and it's a five-minute walk from my house....
Read moreMy wife and I just had a couples massage here, and I had such a bad experience I feel compelled to leave this review. Before the massage started both I and the masseuse remarked at how tight my some of my muscles were. She proceeded to tell me, at great length, how important it is to breathe, not hold my breath, and that pregnant women go to classes to learn how to breathe during the birthing process because otherwise they could potentially have a stillbirth. Great. This did not seem like a red flag. However, as the massage went on, she continued to tell me to relax and to breath, which gradually became more and more aggravating and caused me to be less relaxed. Despite the masseuse acknowledging how tight my muscles were, she proceeded to use a lot of force from the get-go. However, it wasn't truly problematic until she approached my upper back, which hadn't been loosened up whatsoever, with the same amount of force. I asked her to reduce the pressure, she sort of did on my right side, but then transitioned to the left side and continued to use TOO much force. I had to forcefully tell her to stop at which point she stopped using her feet and started using her hands/arms. That changed the tone of the massage. For the remainder, she was very abrupt with the removal of the blankets/towels in a way that felt vindictive. After the massage, she asked how I felt, and I said I wasn't really sure. At check out, my masseuse checked us out and did not offer an apology nor did she ask if I was ok. I have gotten many massages in the Bay Area over the years and have NEVER had an experience like this. Proceed...
Read moreI had the pleasure of booking a massage session with Lily and Vicky, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Lily's & Vicky's expertise in deep tissue massage truly shone through as she expertly addressed my specific needs with precision and care.
From the moment I walked into the massage office, I felt welcomed and at ease. warm demeanor immediately put me at ease, and professionalism was evident as they attentively listened to my concerns about the knots that had built up over the past year.
What truly impressed me was their ability to understand exactly what I needed without much explanation. Their years of experience in deep tissue massage were evident as they skillfully targeted and addressed each knot with precision. While the process of removing knots can be slightly uncomfortable, Lily's &Vicky's technique was both effective and considerate, making the experience manageable and ultimately rewarding.
Addressing long-standing knots requires dedication and regular sessions. I realized that one appointment alone cannot fully resolve such issues. With each session, I noticed a significant improvement in my overall well-being and mobility.
I wholeheartedly recommend this location to anyone seeking relief from muscle knots and tension. Trust me, your body...
