I hate to leave bad reviews but my boyfriend and I went there for a pretty late lunch and we were just standing on the left side (opposite of cafe area) waiting to order. We stood there for like 10 min not knowing if anyone was even working there at the time. Turns out the cafe that looks like a completely different restraunt bc it has a different name is where you order but the menu for pier 402 is on the other side. I specifically called different restraunts to get briney and saltwater oysters. They said they had multiple options of that. I walk in and ask what kinds of oysters they have and the server says I have no idea. On the menu it says ask your server for which oysters they have available that day. Like??? Not to mention I go out of my way to try oysters and these were the least briney least saltwater, saltwater oysters Iâve ever had. I couldnât tell which was fresh or salt water bc they all tasted like fresh water. Incredibly disappointing and we will prob never be back. The clam chowder even tho my bf did think it was fine I found to be relatively fishy and seemd like they got their clams from a can. Just an overall disappointment bc I made a point to call before hand and it just seems like the servers havenât tried the oysters or are just making thing up about them tasting distinctly differnt bc they all tasted the same. The only thing that was good was the lobster poutine and their clever word play for their...
Read moreI don't why it's taken me so long to get to this restaurant. I understand it's the same owner as LA Crema which is a great coffee spot so it doesn't surprise me that they did a great job of redoing the location since the previous occupant. The decor is a modern, clean nautical theme which is very well done and not cheesy at all. This is a great spot to meet up friends and hang out in the patio.
Now, onto the food and service. The customer service was not bad, it was just lackluster and a smile would be nice. The food was beautiful with fresh ingredients. However everything was missing a little something. We had the lobster tacos, tri-tip sandwich, and a large veggie salad. The seafood and veggie salad was enormous and packed with a variety of fresh ingredients. The lobster tacos had a good portion of meat and came with fries which was different. They did not have a lot of flavor. The same can be said about the Tri-Tip sandwich. I wanted to like it but then blamed myself for ordering meat at a seafood restaurant. The fresh bread was good and toasted with a nice spread and goat cheese. The meat was spread thinly over a very long roll the size of a hoagie and was not cut in half. I would have preferred they use a smaller roll with the meat piled up. The food visually looked very good but for me every item was just missing the mark. I would have given them...
Read moreUnlike previous visits, I have to give 1 star. The last 2 times I came here, I either waited 10 minutes and nobody came out from the kitchen, or waited 10 minutes after running to arrive before closing, only to be told once the guy came out that 'we're closed.' It still wasn't closing time at 7pm, but he could care less. maybe lock the door, and check occasionally to see if customers are waiting before you close this time, same drill but at 5:15pm. After 7 minutes a couple came in behind me, and we all waited a few more minutes before anyone came to the counter. When I asked if there were food items beyond the happy hour menu, I was told "look at the menu". No welcome, no greeting, no encouragement. Every time I come here now, it's like the guy is expecting people to go away so he can watch TV. Too inconvenient to offer any service. There's no raw bar anymore. And if you sit outside, you are expected to keep going back inside to see if your food is ready- despite being given a number to place on your table.
Been trying to support my local small businesses, but this one can just close. It's...
