Whirlygig — Attraction in San Jose

I hosted my son's 4th birthday here last weekend and everyone had a great time! I'd highly recommend this venue for a little kid's birthday. First, it's so convenient for them to provide the decorations, food, set up, and clean up. I basically didn't have to do all that much other than make decisions on what to order.

The day of the party was incredibly smooth and all the staff were very helpful and kept everything running on a tight schedule. I would say a downside is that because it's so scheduled, you don't have a lot of flexibility. For example, some of the kids wanted to take home decorations but they couldn't because the venue provides them, and they shut down part of the room half an hour before to start cleaning up and get everyone ready for cake/singing. And also, since you reserve the venue for your own party, you have a hard stop. However, this wasn't a problem for us but useful to know.

I was pleasantly surprised that the fruit and cheese plates they ordered from their vendor were really good! I don't really expect food for a kid's party to be amazing, but the fruit was fresh and sweet, and there was a good variety of nice cheeses. Also, they packed up the leftover food for us! I thought they would throw it away after, so that was a nice bonus.

All the kids had a great time and the setup of the venue is nicely spread out so that it didn't feel so overwhelming or stimulating. Even though there were almost 40 people there (~12 kids and the rest adults), it didn't feel like there were that...

Based on the owner response -

I understand being polite here on reviews , but that day we specifically requested to wait in the waiting room , as it was really windy outside , and the owner’s response to that was - “ The Party time is 12. You are here at 11:30, not even 11:45!you cannot wait even here.” The tone was quite rude. The other party was already leaving and we were no where in their play space , we were in the shoes area.

Second . The staff specifically ushered us out of the second room stating ‘ we need to clean this room’. Not because there was cake . Not because everyone else was gathering in the other room . But specifically because ‘we need to clean up this room’ ( while the party is still going on ). Disappointing .

Customer service is a big part of any business . The space is fine , but the owner and staff - not too happy.

The space is fine as a kids play area, however I would never host an event here. The staff was unusually rude, refusing to allow us to wait inside on a very cold and windy day, when we arrived 15 minutes early to our event (as suggested on the invite). We were supposed to have the space from 12-2pm but by 1:15 they start closing down one half of the space to “to clean”. The manager or owner, not sure who, starts to usher us out by 1:45pm. We hosted our daughter's first birthday party here last Saturday and had a wonderful time!! In our opinion, everything went so smoothly and we literally did not have to worry or stress about anything during the party. Everything was taken care of to the T!

One of the reasons why I booked this place was that I didn't want to do any planning/work and decorating because I don't have the time for that while having it be a private indoor space all to yourself. The only planning I really did was figuring out what food and dessert to order. Communication was spotty and forgetful with the Party Director and not as prompt as I would like, which was the only stress I experienced throughout the whole time, but everything was perfect on the day of.

We had a custom theme and all decorations were so good and cute!! Such a beautiful job well done. Izabel and all staff on-site were attentive and so helpful with everything, thank you so much again!

I'd highly recommend booking for your kid's party if you want a place that does everything for you and you get to enjoy the party! Granted it's not very affordable but totally worth it since you really don't have to do anything. They also have open play on some days of the week for $20/session, which I think is worth it too.
