Good entertainment is hard to find during normal times. Dang near impossible since the Forever Flu came to town. Luckily Broadway San Jose, the current name of the long lasting live theater, is back. This time Hairspray, a great musical for all ages.
Typically Broadway San Jose runs four shows a year with professional and local performers. If you have not been to a live play, most are musicals, done right you are missing out. My dad, from NYC, and mom, brought us as kids to shows. Until recently, when I left the area, I had season tickets and, other that two shows no one could salvage, every show was fantastic and I would put the performances up against any in NYC or London.
The theater has affordable parking in covered lots, close to downtown restaurants, and the light rail can take you to the theater, The Center For the Performing Arts. The area is safe, the local Maverick Unhoused Urban Sidewalk and River Campers tend to stay away. The staff, volunteers for the most part, are helpful. It is an all around great experience and a very rare positive in a rather charmless and interest lacking region.

Read moreGreat atmosphere from the outside, small and dainty on the inside. Seats are cramped and food concessions don't offer much but do their best for what they offer. NO hot foods, BUT does offer 🍭 snacks 🍬 & 🍺 beer/wine 🍷 and ☕ coffee/hot chocolate 🍫.
Restrooms are far from between but glad they had inside one just as they offer porta potties.
The stage is decent and definitely a personable feeling.
Not bad for live plays especially for the price and getting something up close for seating 💺 to get a great experience.
We saw the Thorn which I would highly recommend if you see advertisment for it. Very emotional and touches you. Love history and how they put their view on it. Great performance for...
Read moreBeautiful Theater. My daughter took me to see Hamilton for my birthday. They had plenty of clean outdoor toilets without long lines. I didn't go to indoor toilets due to long lines. The play was awesome. Theatre was clean, they served alcoholic beverages and food. The Theatre is wheelchair accessible. Come early bring Covid verification, and Photo ID. There is a garage across the street that take credit and debit cards. Bring cash, because some garages are cash only. Be prepared. Enjoy yourself and take pictures in front of the pool with the fountain. Plan to go back with your friends and...
