Our experience at The Grill on the Halley was memorable from start to finish. The ambience is a blend of modern sophistication with a cozy touch, making it perfect for both intimate dinners and celebratory gatherings. We began our evening at the bar, where the selection of distinct wines impressed us. The knowledgeable bartender guided us through their offerings, ensuring we started with the perfect wine.
Once inside the restaurant, the atmosphere remained warm and inviting, with attentive service enhancing our dining experience. The menu boasts an array of enticing dishes, highlighting high-quality ingredients.
We started with a Beef Carpaccio. While it was presented beautifully and tasted exquisite, the portion seemed rather small for sharing. For those with a hearty appetite, ordering an additional appetizer might be wise.
The Caesar Salad was more appropriately sized for sharing and featured crisp, fresh ingredients with a delightful dressing. It was a great precursor to the main courses.
For our entrees, we had the Filet Mignon and the New York steak. Both steaks were cooked to perfection, tender and bursting with flavor. The Filet Mignon, in particular, was a standout, offering a melt-in-your-mouth experience that truly highlighted the quality of the beef.
Overall, The Grill on the Halley offers a top-notch dining experience with a well-curated menu and an elegant yet comfortable atmosphere. It's a great spot for enjoying a fine meal with family and friends.
Probably the best wine list in San Jose Downtown, featuring a remarkable selection of notable wines. Although the prices can be quite steep, you can still enjoy a variety of exquisite wines without breaking the bank. For a more affordable experience, consider choosing wines by the glass to savor the variety...
Read moreI hate to have to write reviews like this but I figure people with food sensitivities/allergies should be aware so they can be cautious. Unfortunately, I have a pretty severe intolerance to both gluten and dairy (think 3-5 days of flu like symptoms, stomach upset, etc.) It doesn’t help that I’m in my third trimester of pregnancy and my body is even more sensitive to my intolerances (add in projectile vomiting anytime I accidentally eat something I shouldn’t).
I called in to place my order to see if they could accommodate my food issues with a grilled chicken breast/fries, the hostess checked with the kitchen to confirm the fries did not contain gluten. When I picked up the food, the hostess pointed to the box with the fries that went with my meal. When I started eating the fries I noticed they were super crispy and appeared to be coated in something. I asked the another hostess who confirmed that the fries were coated with gluten.
They apologized and offered to replace them but it was too late as I had already ingested a few. I’m very lucky that I am not a celiac because if I was that could have landed me in the hospital. Instead, I will spend the next few days just feeling generally unwell and having gut issues. My lymph nodes are already starting swell :(
I have no issues if a restaurant is unable to accommodate my food limitations. I would much rather have them say no then give me something that is going to make me sick for the entire week. I’m hoping through this review they can work to ensure this does not happen to...
Read moreRecently was in town on a business trip. From what I understand the location is wholly based on foot traffic from local events (comedy etc). I had the pleasure of dining at this establishment on a Monday afternoon. Great ambience, good food. Met two very knowledgable and passionate gentlemen who made the experience one that I would call a true 5 star experience.
The manager Devin, a clean cut, down to earth type. Extremely knowledgable about the local area. What truly mattered was that he was one of the few managers that I have seen in the industry that truly takes pride in his reataurant. Not one to sit idly by, Devin continuously worked. Most managers would sit idly by when menial tasks needed to be done. Not Devin. Glasses needed to be stocked or cleaned and his staff was busy? Devin did it. Menus needed to be brought over, cleaned etc. Devin was on it. This is the type of manager who keeps customers, and elevates dining experiences. I hope the owner is reading this.
Dante, the bartender. Knowledgeable with cocktails and the menu. Gave solid recommendations based upon my tastes and nailed it every time. Extremely friendly and one of the most charasmatic people I have ever interacted with.
The synergy between Devin and Dante was other wordly. I cannot recommend this duo anymore. The two of them really set the bar for hospitality and dining experience. It was truly a pleasure to have met these two...
