I am out of town and went to this nail shop for a pedicure. The people were nice, my nails were done well, even though they do something strange( file the top of your nails vigorously ). I heard a woman tell the male manicurist not to do that. She suspected it made her nails thinner. It was the first time I had that done .
My reason for the one star is the manicurist I had ( bald gentleman) said you seem to have calloused feet. He asked, if I want him to rub off the calloused skin. I said okay. The is is a business! He was SUPPOSED to add. “ it will cost you an additional $7! Do you think he said that ? Of course not! I’m half jet lagged., so I assumed this is a rebuttal establishment that doesn’t need to hustle and earn $7 or more because they are tying to be slick! Beware!!! ASK “How Much?” Too bad this shop needs to be deceiving and add on services if someone forgets to ask! I only paid ( since I didn’t have to ) because I didn’t want to make a scene. Perhaps that’s why they have the three men there as manicurist to intimidate ? Where I go, ( Galaxy Nails, Oakland) they would NEVER pull anything like this! The owner, Kim has too much pride and dignity! She doesn’t need $7 to tack on like a greedy pig! Karma!
Oh, there is a reason there is an ATM in the salon and they only take cash!!! They do NOT want the GOVERNMENT to know how much money they are earning under the table!!! No records of credit card transactions! Hmmm, another way to add on the mighty dollar without Uncle...
Read moreRUN, don’t walk away from Sky Nails in San Luis Obispo. FUNGUS ALERT* I went in with high hopes — Ken did my nails, and while his personality was great, the actual work was a nightmare. I thought I’d found my new go-to, but no way. My acrylic fill with gel polish started peeling off just TWO DAYS after my appointment, and it kept peeling from there. Three weeks later, I finally went to a different salon to get a proper fill — and that’s when things got even worse. When they went to remove my fake nails, the technician discovered fungus on both thumbnails. And the reason was obvious: the acrylic wasn’t properly attached to my natural nail in the center. Water had gotten trapped underneath, and when the new salon tech went to take it off, the nail literally popped open like a door because it wasn’t bonded in the middle at all. I’ve been getting my nails done for decades and have never experienced anything like this. Now I’m left with a disgusting green fungus that has to grow out before I can even think about getting my nails done again. Peeling gel in 48 hours and fungal infections caused by sloppy, careless work? Absolutely unacceptable. Sky Nails is unsanitary, unprofessional, and not worth the risk. There are plenty of nail salons in SLO — pick...
Read moreThere is a new staff member named Stephen who is incredibly rude to customers. First of all he was helping a trans-girl and was unfriendly and unhelpful. Did not even offer the gel colors or any color for that matter for her nails and when he did he just plopped down one choice. Then while doing her nails he TOOK OFF HIS MASK, TURNED AROUND AND SNEEZED ON THE FLOOR WITHOUT A MASK. TWICE!!!!!!! another customer came in of African American descent and he was just as rude. She was trying to figure out between two nail colors and when she told him he just ignored her and didn't respond. She asked "aren't you listening to me?" He said "I don't know who your talking to! aAre you talking to me? Um of course she was talking to him. There was no one else doing her nails. I have been going to this salon for 10 years with the same girls and have seen new employees working there. All are nice and professional. THIS guy is the rudest person I have seen there or anywhere for that matter. I would have walked out on him if it were me. Please fire this guy before he damages your reputation. If you get this guy Steven ladies, pass and wait for one of...
