This exhibit of all memorabilia Lonesome Dove is very thorough. This is a must see if your a fan of the miniseries! In addition to the photos, sketches and props from the movie there are items of interest from the state of Texas and of the old southwest history. You'll even see an additional exhibit on music that includes Willie Nelson. This is a wonderful experience and the best part is that it's all free! Parking is time consuming and with patience you will find it. It is a bit of a walk from parking to the exhibit so wear good comfortable shoes. The only con is that the letter from Gus to Laurie was not on display. Am I the only one wanting to know what Gus wrote to her? After all we got to hear Clara's letter. While the first time, we went for the Lonesome Dove exhibit (which is quite moving), we were treated with various art exhibits each with a unique meaning connected to the southwest and Mexico. Read moreThis place had so many nice surprises from Viva Terlingua to Cormac McCarthy. We went for Lonesome Dove and found so much more. The only reason for not five stars is parking. Do not be fooled by the six parking spaces that say guest for the Wittliff collection. You will get a ticket. Search the TSU website for information months in advance to find out how to apply for permission to park there. We did not know. We got a ticket. Hopefully they can figure out a more visitor friendly way to show off this...
