We had the worst experience with my 14- month-old toddler at Cookie Cutters Haircuts in San Mateo (Hillsdale Mall). I’m sorry but this company shouldn’t be offering services to babies and toddlers. Nobody here have empathy or care a little about their most fragile clients. They clearly need training on how to treat small children, Ana didn’t even smile to him or tried to make him feel confortable, she just went straight to his hair with the machine…they scared my my baby since the minute one, and he wouldn’t stop crying, and the staff only seemed that they were in a hurry the whole time... and the only thing they have there to distract kids are TVs???? My baby doesn’t care about screens, because he’s not used to them… we had to ask somebody else to try and finish the hair cut, but it was the same, the whole time in a hurry (and babies can feel that environment, super stressful)!!!! , and this other person “finished” the service leaving several long hairs here and there (I still need to fix this at home) and left my baby’s face covered with a lot of hair, she didn’t know how to clean it…and all she did was offering a tissue??? Really? . Everything went bad from beginning to end.. It’s the first time I take the time to write a review in years, but I felt the need to let know other parents about my experience here. Maybe for older kids this place would work(I don’t know) but definitively they should NOT be offering haircuts to babies and toddlers… And I have to say that we have taken our baby to get his hair cut in other places, and he’s never cried or felt uncomfortable, because other professionals Know how to...
Read moreI just had a terrible experience at Cookie Cutters. The part that makes me the most upset is how the stylist treated my toddler. It's one thing to give him a bad haircut and be annoyed at me for complaining, it's entirely another to rough house him, pushing his head around in frustration, cutting his hair in literally 3 minutes and then leaving him with hair all over his face and neck. I didn't get the name of the stylist but she should not be allowed around children!!
It started with her not understanding the haircut I wanted on my son. She brought out the clippers and it immediately looked too short so I told her that. Then I went to sit down because I'm honestly not too fussed about his haircuts... it'll grow back if it's bad. Not even 5 minutes later, after taking maaaybe .5 inches off the top of his head, she's like we're done! I'm like "no, you need to actually cut his hair?" So she's justifiably annoyed at me because I told her it was too short in the beginning and now it's too long. Fair enough. I get that's annoying.
What she does next though was unacceptable. She proceeds to grab my son's hair, not even measuring it properly and basically hacks away at it. Turns his head forcefully to the left and right as she takes a few snips. A few cuts later, she's done and she wants him out of the chair. I was in disbelief and I wanted him out as quickly as she did.
This is a 2-year-old! Control your anger lady! Or take it out entirely on me, not the baby! This was the older stylist with gray hair. Didn’t ask her name because I won’t be...
Read moreWe have been using the service for our child at Cookie Cutters Haircuts for over 5 years. My child loves to do hair cut at this location. We always make appointments with any stylist because we had good experience with anyone who work there. However, this was the worst experience that we have ever done with the stylist that randomly picked by the salon. We felt welcomed when we walked in, and the stylist discussed with us before she did the haircut, and we wanted to do the simple way and cut the hair shorter, and we didn’t even ask her to do layers. When she started to do the haircut, I sat at the waiting area. In two minutes, the stylist called me come over and told me what she was doing. I didn’t know what she wanted me to say, I thought we discussed before she did it. I just listened. After she done talking, then I walked back to the seat and waited. Another two minutes, the stylist called me again, and asked me how I thought about the hair bangs, I asked her to cut little shorter. These conversations we already had before she started. A parent who was sitting next to me have the same feeling as me. “Who is doing the haircut?” My child is 10 years old. She was watching TV and clam when doing the haircut. We walked in, done and paid in 10 minutes. I didn’t really checked out my child’s hair before we walked out the salon. I already felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave. I knew I needed to fix it or go somewhere else anyway. Looked at the back of the hair, I felt sorry to my child. We would fix it before...
