Nazareth Ice Oasis | San Mateo — Attraction in San Mateo

As someone who’s sharpened skates before and reading reviews from other people it seems like the skates here have never been sharpened. The whole time I was here I was thinking about how many rentals skates I’ve been in and have never felt so scared of skating in my life because if I really tried to skate I would’ve broke a arm from falling down. I really think this is the only place that I’ve been to that gives you skates that aren’t sharpened. (I only know how this feels because I tried it back home in Canada to skate with unsharpened skates and it felt very similar and if you look at the blade there is no hollow, which means it’s never been sharpened or hasn’t been sharpened in a VERY long time)

These skates had no edges at all which is unfortunate because as someone who is learning this can make it incredibly difficult to even stand (which I almost fell many times due to this skate) I’m surprised they allow this because someone can seriously get hurt from this.

I will say the facility is nice, the bathrooms and hockey change rooms are one of the better ones but unless they decide to sharpen their skates, I wouldn’t come back because I don’t want to break any bones from...

Very disappointed with the ice at this location. It was so difficult to skate since they don’t clean ice for public session after 3 freestyle session. As we arrived the guy didn’t say hi or welcome he just said “did you pay online” I didn’t he then rudely said “$40 make sure pay online next”. All I was thinking won’t be a next time if it was because of you. But my daughter and I love the ice. It’s our spring break and we are going around checking out rinks. This place is so dirty and unorganized plus it’s $20 a person for very little time! All I know is that I’ll never be back and now I know why people drive to away from this rink! I wouldn’t be surprised if this place closed down again who ever runs it needs to clean it up. Get people with better energy and Attitude to work for you too. Overall, the ice rink is really nice as it's one of the only ones in the San Mateo area that you can safely practice in.

With that being said, the rink sometimes runs into small malfunctioning issues and oftentimes you can find one or two dead bugs in the corner of the rink. I have no clue why but it's something you may want to watch out for especially if you're prone to falling.
