SurveyMonkey HQ — Attraction in San Mateo

I did a survey aimed at getting market information within the city of San Francisco. So I specified that the results had to come from San Francisco residents. Somewhere along the survey set up process, that got changed to the whole US. And when I checked out and paid for the survey I didn't realized that San Francisco was changed to US.

When the survey started, I realized that I was getting responses from all over the country, which made the survey pointless. So I contacted surveymokey right away and asked them to fix this. I got a fast response from Anousha from surveymonkey who told me that I screwed up when I set up the survey, and that there was nothing he could do about it. So I asked them to cancel the survey and give me a refund, since they were not willing to fix it. So I got a response from Mike from surveymonkey telling me that it wasn't their fault and I was not getting a refund.

It was a bad experience, complete waste of time and money. The survey results I got where worthless. It's the last time I'm using...

I’ve had a frustrating experience with SurveyMonkey that I feel others should be aware of. The company has a very poor reputation, as evidenced by the numerous complaints available on both the BBB and Trustpilot websites. If you take a look at their BBB page (link) and their Trustpilot page (link), you'll see a pattern of complaints about SurveyMonkey's deceptive business practices.

One major issue I encountered was their policy of setting payments to "default" auto-renew without clearly disclosing this in their terms and conditions (TOR). This hidden policy led to unexpected charges, and when I tried to get a refund, they refused. I designed a survey and paid the monthly subscription for 4 months ($400). Just before ending my subscription I exported my results and saved the file (didn’t need to evaluate them right away). I reopened the file recently and found that just over half of my 140 responses were available and answers for about 8 of the questions were not even exported. I contacted SurveyMonkey to try to rectify this problem and was told I must pay for another subscription in order to try to re-download the results SurveyMonkey failed to deliver when I had my previous subscription.
