I joined LA Fitness a little over a year ago and in all honesty it has been a subpar experience. Most recently, on the last due date I was awaiting a replacement card so the lost card didnāt go through as the bank had cancelled the card for safety reasons per the usual. LA Fitness proceeded in charging a $5.00 late fee later that afternoon so I was required to spend time on the phone and in the gym to explain the situation and remove the late fee that shouldāve never been charged on the date Iām contractually obligated to pay. When I found more time to do so, I reached out via e-mail to customer service and requested a elimination of an annual fee or some type of credit the the account for this experience along with other equipment. There was little to no sympathy. I will give them incremental time to address these situations but before joining this gym there are some things you may want to consider. I have visited several locations in and around the Atlanta area and this location reminds me of the Windward Parkway prior to a much needed renovation. If you proceed with signing up for a membership here please use the list below to negotiate your monthly fee, I believe no person should pay over $15/monthly for this gym. I only use cardio equipment cannot speak on weight lifting equipment.
Cardio Equipment: (1) Elliptical 4 and 6 from center of the gym have been broken for a year and they have taken the āWaiting For Serviceā signs down, typically on weekends when most unsuspecting individuals are touring the gym. About 8 of 12 ellipticals make a clicking noise when in use as if they are in dire need of a calibration (2) Many of the treadmills are either broken or do not incline (3) There is trash left on and in the cups of the the ellipticals and treadmills often and the staff seemingly has a greater interest in sitting at the front talking on their phones versus doing a spot checkā¦.and this can go on for weeks as Iāve seen the same trash on broken equipment āmarinateā for quite some time.
Pool: (1) I used the pool once and there was a layer of brown slime on the bottom so decided not to use it again (2) A patron stated she was unimpressed with the pool and I asked if it was the layer of brown at the bottom and she stated there was actually a FILM floating on top!
Sauna: They recently redid the sauna and used pine wood, it gets VERY hot, and according to another patron whoās a contractor will eventually start to release toxic fumes. I often have red marks when using and fear it likely has a potential to cause burns
Locker Room: (1) About 3/4 of the sinks in the locker room are not workingā¦the water doesnāt even turn on (2) Half the time Iāve noticed they will fill the nonworking sinks with soap and the working sinks will be empty of soap so youāre forced to use two different sinks to wash your hands (3) There are no weight scales in the locker room here, I believe there was one in the male locker room and not one in the female locker room because when they collected the equipment to send back two appeared. According the customer service a new scale has been ordered but it would be nice to have equal treatment of weigh scales in the locker rooms for privacy.
At other locations, i.e. Marietta, Iāve seen someone visit weekly and clean individual equipment but have only seen this 3 times at this location. The Roswell Rd location takes the cake for broken equipment now that theyāve renovated the Alpharetta/Windward Way location. It does not make sense to me why they have not renovated this location and continue to operate with a subpar facility.
I will add to this list as needed, I wish customer service would have worked with me but unfortunately I donāt get paid to report the nuances staff should in all honesty be reporting to begin with. Hopefully this helps at least one person to make a decision on whether or not the gamble is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreATTENTION ALL FUTURE MEMBERS. 05/28/2014 I have experienced theft and a loss of total $900 at this LA Fitness location. I went to workout for 30 minutes on Friday 05/23/2014 and when i came back to take a shower i noticed someone broke into my locker, cut the lock with the bolt cutter and stole my cell phone brand new samsung galaxy note 3 and my valet. I reported this to the Police immediately but they couldnt do more then just give me a case number. They told me things get stolen at LA Fitness all the time and the GYM is not doing anything against it. I spoke to the GYM's managers but they only said that they are sorry and that i should call corporate office - customer care phone line. Once i called them and told them my story they just said they are sorry but they do not reimburse nor they are liable for lost or stolen items. THIS IS THE BIGGEST PERVERSION OF ALL TIMES. you provide lockers and encourage people to come to your nice gym, to have showers, swimming pool and use the sauna and the fine gym equipment and enjoy the time spend here - feel safe and then you can not even perform duty of care and provide one simple thing safety and theft prevention for your customers. I dont know who stole my cell and my valet but this could also have been an inside JOB. Who walks around with a bolt cutter ? how is it possible that no one has seen anything suspicious ? Why didnt they put flyers in the gym to try to resolve this ... someone must have seen something ?! LA Fitness has not taken reasonable steps to protect customers and their property. My privacy and my property has been violated and I did not feel protected by LA Fitness at no point of time even when this was brought to their attention ... all i heard was " yeah it happens - we are sorry, we dont reimburse"
I did not pay my enrollment fee and my monthly membership fees to come to the LA fitness facility and have my stuff stolen.
I signed up with this gym because i had very high opinion about the brand LA Fitness but now that i have seen how they take care of their customers i have changed my mind completely. This company has a nice nationwide concept but their customer service sucks ASS. I was at Golds Gym for 4 years and nothing got stolen from me ever , i used the same lock for 4 years that was cut at the LA Fitness gym. Nothing against the individuals, employees that work there personaly. They are OK it is the policy against THEFT in place and the professional attitude that does not protect the customer and their property. I would not sign up again with this gym at all and if i was not sorry about my enrollment fee $200 i would be gone and have cancelled my membership with them the very next moment this happened to me. But they are not willing to even give me my enrollment fee back as a way of apologie that this happen at their gym while they at duty and liable ... all they said is " we can cancell your membership but can not give you your initiation fee back ... " which is more than ridiculous.

I signed up back in June of 2023 and spoke with the personal training manager at the time about the personal training options. I specifically told him I was looking for maybe 2-3 months of personal training to get me back in the swing of things before my wedding in October and then would want to cancel the PT and do things on my own with my regular membership. He said that wouldn't be a problem, and so we set it up. About 2 months later (sometime in August) I try to cancel my PT and the new PT manager said I can't because I signed up for a 12-month contract.... long story short we talked to the GM (Dee) and he said he's learning this was a regular occurrence for the previous PT manager and said that's why he was fired. Dee assured me he would take care of this and would cancel the training, he just had to submit it to his VP or corporate or whoever, but assured me we wouldn't be billed for it any more and that we would be getting a call back from his upper this week. We never got a call and I was billed the following month for it. I went to Dee, he fixed it, and "resubmitted" the request to whoever needed to approve it and swore we would get a call back that week. Still no call, and still got charged again. By this point I'm just fed up and don't care to use this gym anymore. I went in one last time and told them to cancel everything, I'm done, I want out. Dee apologized over and over again and assured me it would be taken care of asap, by the end of the week. I even had another LA Fitness employee telling me on the side that I'm going to have to change my credit card info because they won't stop charging me regardless of what they tell me... so I did. At this point, it's almost February now and I've been trying to get my personal training and my membership canceled since August, with multiple trips made to the gym to speak to Dee face to face, and an ungodly number of phone calls; that's almost SIX MONTHS of them trying to bill me for services I haven't used in those 6 months, blowing up my and my husbands phones trying to get payment saying our account is accruing a balance and late fees, etc. even though the general manager assured me he would cancel this for us because of the "inconvenience it's caused us". Billing can blow my phone up and call me all they want but anytime I try to call them back I can't get anyone to answer. This place and (some) of the staff are an absolute joke who will lie and take your money if you're not staying on top of things. And it's a shame because I actually liked...
