I’m disappointed to see negative reviews, they’ve only been open for two months and Santa Fe is lucky to have a place like this. If you have a grasp on contemporary art you’d understand that the pieces on display (from the NMMA collection) are legendary (Kusama, Chicago, Martin) and a spacious exhibit layout is meant to make you stop and look at each piece in depth… Seems like most people were deceived by the exterior of the building - there are two galleries on separate floors and a nice terrace. I appreciate that the gift shop is removed from the main building, and the guy who works there is a sweetie. If you’re not keen on the admission price ($7 for NM residents) then plan to go on the free days they offer each month. Take your time and enjoy the stillness inside! I have a medical issue where I bleed and I needed to take care of it and they refused me access to the restroom. I emailed the deputy director, Shannon Bay. When you add the fact that this museum looks enormous from the outside and actually has almost all of its space wasted on giant empty corridors with very little art actually on display, this place is a major disappointment. I'm still giving it 2 stars because most of the little bit of art on display is quite good, but what an underwhelming experience. Very poor lighting, too. Shame on the architect who designed this place. If I was the city of Santa Fe, I'd want...
