My wife booked a stay here on the eve of Mothers day off of Hotwire. The Inn looked decent when we arrived but there was no place to park. Instead we were instructed to park in the handicap van loading zone while there was a van parked there. Strange we thought but we did what they asked. Then we get up to our room in #6 upstairs. Two different four digit codes just to get into our room. Once in...it turned out to be one of the strangest rooms we had ever seen. Long narrow hall, small bathroom on the left w/no shower and had two wine glasses and an ice bucket siting in front of the toilet. Across from the bathroom was the bedroom with a king bed which had another bathroom with a shower. Next to the bed was a small TV mounted to the wall and can see the mounting bracket that is holding this small TV. At the end of the hall there was a small mini fridge on the floor about a foot and a half high that had a K-cup coffee machine sitting on it and across from that was a day bed. Very weird layout! We were ok with everything until a closer look. The floors were filthy. Sticky around the fridge with foot prints around it. The rugs were a mess and needed extreme cleaning. Someone next to our room was strumming a mandolin. The walls were paper thin so it sounded like he was in our room. Bad window views. So, at this point we have that...We tried the restaurant to their recommendations. We were greeted in an off beat manner as it was around 5pm things were just getting underway. The hostess was new and had no knowledge of the menu. The bartender was our server and took our order (not writing our order down but memorizing it....NOT good in my book) and forgot half of our order. Noticing this after we received our food. The place got busy and we were forgotten. The other servers sensed that I was getting upset and tried to intervene but had little knowledge of our situation. By the time we got the rest of our food we were beyond upset of no recovery. The restaurant manager did apologize and took care our bill. So this "Boutique" Hotel which charged two resort fees for this crazy experience and says that they offer free breakfast, which they don't...was a terrible experience! This was a TON OF LIPSTICK ON A VERY UGLY PIG! We ended up leaving and going home back to Albuquerque and did not stay the night. Wasn't worth the effort to complain any further to the hotel staff or owners which neglects quality to begin with. So it was a bad mothers day eve for my wife...
The one good thing was...
Read moreWe really wanted to like the Inn at Vanessie but unfortunately that wasn't the case. The room was cold when we arrived. It took a few days of complaining about the on/off heating problem before it was identified that it needed a new unit. The manager, (Enrique) said, "I've got good news and bad news: the bad news is that we need to replace the unit. The good news is that I'm going to get you so drunk tonight you won't even know it's cold." Really?? How unprofessional. All the other rooms were booked and being the Christmas holiday, we were hard-pressed to find availability at any other hotel. Enrique put a couple of space heaters in the room but the fuses constantly tripped. Twice an electrician had to be called to fix the problem. On Christmas eve we were getting ready to go out for dinner. My wife turned the blow dryer on and the fuses blew again. Enrique sent someone from the front desk to reset the breakers but that was unsuccessful. I asked him where could she blow dry her hair and he had us go into another guest's room! (they weren't present). I sat down with Enrique and explained that we had spent far too much time and stress dealing with these issues. He agreed to reimburse us three days (we stayed for 6 nights). I asked who the owner was and Enrique refused to give a name. After we got home, Enrique only reimbursed two of the three days he promised. I tracked the owner's name down on my own and sent him an email. He called me and seemed sincere about reimbursing us for the third day Enrique had promised. He said Enrique had failed to tell him what had happened and that he'd look into this and call back. An hour later he called back and said he spoke to Enrique who essentially refuted everything we said. Furthermore, to deflect from how he handled the situation, Enrique made up these wild accusations that bordered on slander. I understand sometimes things happen and we appreciate the Inn at Vanessie's effort by bringing space heaters in, but fuses in a small area aren't meant to handle space heaters, a hair dryer and/or iron. Enrique was slow to respond (he said his phone broke) when the fuses had blown and in keeping us updated on whether the heater was actually going to be replaced (it wasn't). I also told him the hot tub did not work in which he replied he'd look into it (never did). Had he acted like a professional along with keeping his word on reimbursing us for the 3 days he promised, we would probably return. We loved Santa Fe and we'll definitely come back but we'll never...
Read moreCame to town visiting family, grew up in Santa Fe and used to love coming to Vanessie for dinner. Certainly not the place that used to be! I will never stay here again! For the money, you were still paying a resort fee for Wi-Fi and a breakfast, while the wi-go didn’t work and there was no breakfast. Covid being the excuse everyone gives these days, still I don’t think I should have to pay for things that are not offered. Coffee maker in the room was a drip coffee pot while the coffee supplied was for a pod coffee maker. Refrigerator in the room was so tiny barely fit three bottles of water and it wasn’t even cold. There are no robes in the room, and there’s also not a bathtub only a standup shower and the room is freezing cold. There is a little heater in the bathroom that doesn’t work. The advertised amenity of a fireplace is a joke. The fireplace has candleholders with no candles and doesn’t appear to be used for fires at all anymore. Room has no view overlooks the parking lot. The temperatures during the day have been in the 30s and at night down as low as 10°, which is really cold when your room barely heats. The floor was filthy the entire time I was here… There’s a rug under the bed that has never been vacuumed as near as I can tell. I’m fairly certain this is one of the worst rooms they have to offer, which is such a mistake to give to somebody who is still somewhat local and has many contacts who do visit the area and ask where they should stay. It certainly won’t be my recommendation to stay at Vanessie. I even mentioned to the assistant manager when I checked in that I am a local and I know many many people here- for a moment he seem to contemplate whether or not he should give me a better room and then decided to just go with what they had assigned me before I arrived. This room has little to be desired. The parking lot is tiny and very difficult to maneuver in and out of with anything bigger than a Prius. So, you pay a resort fee for Wi-Fi and breakfast that doesn’t work and isn’t included, you’re given a coffee maker without the ability to make coffee. The beds are not very comfortable the place is dirty and it is cold with a terrible view and blinds that are half broken. If this review doesn’t convince you to keep looking elsewhere nothing well. More disappointing to realize that I could’ve stayed at a number of hotels including some of the highest rated in the state for the same...
