Apart from the fact that I'm pretty sure all of the employees believe that every customer in the store is actively trying to steal everything they are looking at, Double Take has good quality and unique items that display New Mexico/Santa Fe's beautiful heritage and style. The prices are a little high which I think is due to the tourist folk who frequent the store, so that's understandable, and because there is a focus on quality as I mentioned. Gotta cash in on the out of towners. It is unfortunate that while my family was shopping, they were politely harassed around the store in a very awkward fashion and being followed room to room, my guess is to ensure no one stole anything. Go upstairs, they follow you, walk to a rack, someone walks near you, put on a hat, someone's staring at you. It's that weird feeling you're being watched like you're somewhere you don't belong, like you're being followed by that ghost from Mario that moves when your back is turned. So if you decide to shop here when it's busy just know they will make you aware they are watching, in that awkward helpful "hey, you need help? Just know we are watching" kind of way. I'm sure they have problems with stupid people stealing their stuff, which probably happens often so they are being overly cautious and vigilant. But GD it's annoying to be treated like a criminal while you're just walking around.
Anyway, cool store,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to this store a handful of times now trying to sell some items from my house that I no longer needed. Well browsing the store shelves you can see a lot of their stuff I worn . Well of course because people bring in things handed down hence the store . I brought things either never used or LIGHTLY used and every time they say they are not interested in my items . Then I turn around and they help homeless people and āothersā with things that are crazy to even look at and wonder how someone would buy that , well they will! Just not from me I guess. I brought in some Jordan shoes lightly worn, along with a pile of good baby/kid clothes , and kid toys and they tried offering me $20 for all of that. Wow! Their shelves are full of shoes that are torn, dirty, and worn all to hell. I just canāt believe the service their giving true New Mexicans because thatās what I am! The handful of times Iāve been there they want none of my things. And I call and ask what things they DO buy and I bring it in and itās still not good enough. They pay you Pennieās and turn around and sell it marked high! Iāll never go back. Unless Veronica from baby/kids is there. Because thatās one employee that is good and knows her stuff and doesnāt make you feel like your beneath her . Or your not good enough. Long story short donāt shop here unless you want to pay high prices for very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI absolutely love thrifting and consignment shopping. However, this shop should be shut down permanently! My family and I are Hispanic mistakenly shopping in a racist store. 20 minutes in the store, neither myself nor my family we ever greeted, acknowledged, helped. Plenty of other blond haired, light skinned individuals who came in after us were seen and acknowledged. One customer went to far as to look at both myself and my son, look us up and down with plenty of judgement. Of course she finished her judgement with a twisted look. My daughter in law was purchasing something. The women at the register went from chatting and laughing with the people before us to rude, matter of fact attitude, zero eye contact and the words THANK YOU never crossed her lips with us. This shop is filled with disgusting people including their usual customers. People like this deserve nothing positive nor rewarding. Iāll never return to this gross establishment. You closed minded individuals who work here. How do you look at your reflection in the mirror everyday.!!! Wake up! Your...
