Please make sure that you pick a ride with a specific theme and entertainment. My family and I were very excited about this experience based on the reviews. Unfortunately, we picked the Scenic Ride, which we were not aware that did not include any kind of entertainment whatsoever. It was just a train ride that cost us over $400!! They should not charge the same $90 per person if it does not include entertainment (live band or performance)— They gave us a menu and I thought, oh okay, at least they would offer us complementary drinks and snack or something. Nope! That is extra $—Even if they offered a free drink, this ride is not $90 per person. It was our daughter’s 15th birthday and she asked to have this experience based on the reviews, but didn’t notice that all the awesome reviews were from customers that took the other rides that included entertainment. At some point I asked staff if they could please play jazz music. I assumed that they would have it since one of the other rides includes live jazz. Yet, she said they only had country music. Country music is nice, but not 2.5 hrs of it, especially when you have costumers thar vary in age and background. Some of us took a nap and tried to make the best of it. But it was very disappointing. To the owners of this business I kindly request that you consider this review seriously as your concept is lovely. I hope that we can give it another try when we come back to NM, but this would...
Read moreSanta Fe Railway, this little excursion was more than disappointing. The website was not informative as to the route or what would be seen along it's path or at the turnabout. The round-trip was a four and one half hours to Lamy and back. We began our journey in Santa fe; we had not been informed that the restaurant in Lamy would be closed until we had our tickets and were on our way. The railway had informed us that they were going to get sandwiches. These were bought at World Foods and brought to Lamy and sold to the passengers at a nominal cost of $7 along with a can soda for $2, which by the way were sub par. The L amy stop lasted for what seemed much longer than one hour as there was only a closed restaurant in that one horse and four house town; that was all I noticed from the depot. The cost for two and this includes the parking and one sandwich and two drinks was overpriced at circa $100. My recommendation would be take the commuter to Albuquerque. You would get more out of it unless your idea of fun is to sit and buy drinks...
Read moreIf I could give this more then five stars I certainly would. A valentine's gift from my fiancé, we waited to board the train outside on a beautiful snowy Thursday in Santa Fe. Being cold for a little while was the worst of anything we experienced. He had booked the beautifully restored Acoma, a 19th century train car that had once carted movie stars like Judy Garland across New Mexico. The atmosphere was delightful, the cabin not overly full, and the wait staff and live music was amazing. A little treat was provided courtesy of local businesses, and the drink the bee's knees was just that, the bee's knee's. My favorite part of the whole trip was walking out onto the open air train car, bundled up of course and seeing Santa Fe in the snow. It was like a movie, with everything silent except for the movement and sound of the train. If you get a chance to do this please do. I am a born and bred SantaFean and have never seen the city more magical then we...
