Spoke with 4 MacBook repairs and done business with 3 of those 4. This one has been the best experience, the guy is well knowledged, down to earth and doesn't treat you like you are a child. by trying to rip you off for some simple computer work. He has great prices and if he can't fix it. He refunds your money. He charged me 90 dollars while others were trying to charge me 900 dollars like AppleCore computes. 1........Apple Core Computes said it was a 100 diagnostic fee, plus around 800 dollar fee for transferring a few photos to a new computer. AppleCore gave me a bad feeling in my gut. He clearly displayed dirty business tactics and ethics. I felt like if I took my computer there he would hold my laptop hostage if I didn't pay him $900 without tax. He gave me kidnapper vibes. Real creepy if you ask me. 2........Took my I phone to Synergy Repairs, they didn't change out the loose charging port, battery was dying still, took it back and told them how can they give me my phone back like that. They fixed it but made me wondering if they try to rip people off, that's a big mistake they did. I'm also wonderring they just calibrated my old worn down battery. I asked the girl if they calibrated my battery or changed it out. She said you can't calibrate the battery. She got mad when I asked that. Iv worked with Rc cars lipo batteries for 20 years and watched videos on YouTube of iphone batteries being calibrated. I caught them in a lie. 3........ Took my computer to Santa Fe Mac Repair, the guy seemed like he didn't like Latino Hispanics, told him I use my laptop for my online business. He looked at me like he was surprised to see a educated Hispanic. Jealousy or whatever you want to call it. The fee was $125 for Data transfer and OS update and he charged $25 in tax even though I paid cash. All the businesses taking cash don't charge tax. So he stole from me, thinking I wouldnt notice. I still tried being cool with him and told him I needed a new computer and asked him what he had. Told me very rude to just look on his website. He had 3 outdated computers and couldn't just tell me what he had. I than bought a new computer and asked him he can do the same service he did. He remembered who I was from doing business and calling him over 10 times. He told me $200 not including tax. I can tell the guy must be a racist, I gave him no reason to dislike me. Him charging me a extra $100 for the same service. Was a slap to my face. I politely told him thank you and would call him... they guy at Santa Fe computer repair. $90 dollars, down to earth, friendly, won't try to rip you off. Glad I did business with different macrepair shops. So I can warn anyone reading this. Don't let your computer be kidnapped and held hostage. Try out Santa Fe Computer Repairs behind Pep Boys. Only recommendation I'd give SFCR. Is to maybe move in a newer bigger building, it looks like they've outgrown theirs and need more room for inventory. The front was being used as storage for all their repairs. When I walk into any store, the front should be welcoming with a nice...
Read moreI’m no novice to computers. My operating system of choice is a Linux distribution called Manjaro. When I want or need computer repair, I want professional, experienced, reasonably priced service. For these reasons Santa Fe Computer Works is where I go. To give an example, I use a 2 GIG Seagate Hard Drive (HDD) for back up. Recently, I plugged that HDD to my computer and watch in horror as I the controller board (PCB) sizzled and smoke. On the HDD was data I could not afford to lose such as precious family digital pictures and videos. I took the HDD to Nelson at Santa Fe Computer Works. As I walked into his shop I saw a line of computers being serviced from virus removal, hard ware repair to windows and mac repair. I explained what happened and the importance of the HDD. He said he’d do what he could. Today my HDD is running great with NO DATA LOSS! If you need parts or service I highly recommend Santa Fe...
Read moreI have a beautiful, high-end Alienware Laptop that I took to Nelson (upon a recommendation) for diagnostics. Upon picking it up, I immediately noticed two deep scratches on the outer lid. Nelson insisted that he had not scratched one single computer in the 20 years that he worked on computers. I am absolutely obsessive about how immaculately clean my Alienware is and have always kept it in a case. I removed it from its case immediately before taking it in. I am extremely upset about this. There was no accountability, whatsoever. There is no satisfaction, whatsoever. Nothing can be done to recover the value lost to me for the damage. To claim to not put a single scratch on someone's equipment in 20 years immediately put me on alert. It is humanly impossible. I will never take anything there again. ALWAYS PHOTOGRAPH YOUR EQUIPMENT BEFORE LEAVING IT...
