Listen. I know that landlords and commercial apartment owners are all penny pinching, soulless leeches that contribute nothing to society and buy up housing to ransom it back to the public. But I've seen many that are at least a little merciful about it. Aldara is not one of those merciful ones. They will nickel and dime you within an inch of your life and you can't do anything about it because you signed the lease. And if you don't read your lease close enough and memorize the whole damn thing, you are at risk of having them swoop in and screw you over. And then they have the audacity to act like they're these nice, luxurious apartments, but the cabinets were built by the laziest woodworkers alive, the floors are covered in paint specks, birds get caught in my bathroom vents all the time and by the time maintenance comes to do something about it, I've had to listen to dying bird sounds for 3 days and then they don't do anything about it, the water tastes like mildew, the sink and tub drains don't work right, my toilet flusher doesn't work right, my dishwasher broke, like, 4 months into living there, and shortly after the sink stopped draining even after I used the garbage disposal, and any time maintenance says they'll be back to finish something or check on something, they never do unless we harass them. This was true of the old team and of the new team. And they don't ever do anything in a timely manner unless I call them and tell them it's time sensitive, and half the time when I call, I get the wrong information.
They don't let you put anything on your balconies that aren't porch furniture, and while I understand certain things being fire hazards and not wanting people to use balconies as storage units, they'll charge you a fee if you put anything at all on your balcony that isn't furniture. So if you're in a situation where you need to set something somewhere while you're rearranging something, you better be ready for them to get after you about it. And they squawk if you put anything in your window that isn't white and uniform. And if you decide to use their useless valet trash, which costs $25 just for them to not ever bother to take your trash if it isn't comically easy to pull the bag out of the can (seriously, I have actively lifted the bag out and set it on top of the can so it's easy to lift and they've still left the bag in there and put a sign on my doorknob saying it was too hard to get out), then you'd better be really good about not setting your trash out before 5pm and bringing it in after 9am. They'll charge you a fee for that, too. All things that are a result of simple human error, or time restraints, or schedules, or temporary needs, or personal taste, all because they want to sell more units and act like they're giving you a really nice apartment that's worth the price (which will go up by at least $50 often, for no reason and with no warning).
Not only do they have ridiculous fees for petty shit like this, but they'll also not warn you about anything and it'll cost you hundreds of dollars if you aren't diligent about keeping up with everything, and you can't do anything about it because you signed the lease. You'd better be on the ball about keeping your car registered, because if your life gets super chaotic and busy and you forget to renew it, they'll tow your car in the middle of the night without warning and cost you hundreds of dollars (and the tow yard charges $75 per night, so you'd better have $350 right then). And if you happen to forget after 10 months since signing the lease that you need to give 60 days notice before you vacate, then don't worry, they'll only warn you 30 days before your lease ends that you'll default to month-to-month, and the fee is $200 extra on your rent. And they will take almost 2 weeks to get the vacancy notice to you, so you'll be stuck there even longer, because the 60 days doesn't start until you get that paperwork in, and then you'll be charged $300 because the extra 15 days you're there also have a month-to-month...
Read moreManagement and Maintenance are the worst now that NXT Management took over as owners. When we moved in almost 4 years ago this was a great place to live when Heather was managing. But since then they have change ownership 4 times. The most recent owner is the NXT Management. They are just terrible. Everyone in the office is trained to just quote NXT policy and ignore the fact that they are speaking to actual people with actual lives. They act as though they are not even human and they definitely don't treat anyone like they are human. Ava thankfully was transferred because she was the worst of all of them.
When we changed from a 2 bed to a 3 bed the A/C unit in the 3 bed had a leak and it was evident that it was not working when we moved in last August of 2024. They took weeks to even get a vendor to look at it and gave us a window unit that required us to use the fan and run it 24/7 which hiked our electric bill from 87 to 367. Then all they did was charge it which leaked out again. Then they called the vendor back which took another 2 weeks and he only charged it again which lasted until it got cooler but once spring rolled around it had leaked out so it was not working when May came along. Now since May it has been charged another 3 times. The first time it only lasted a few weeks and our power bill jumped from 68 to 287. Then it took 3 different vendors to finally talk on of them to find the leak. So, Mid June they finally got it fixed. In the meantime we had to obtain our own window units due to they only have 4 on the property. They offered it but I don't like paying high power bills when it's out of my control. Then after 3 more weeks of torturous heat we asked for a window unit but since their A/C system sucks they had all 4 of them out. So now after buying two units and paying another 305 for power in the past month, the vendor finally fixed it. But do you think they even offered to offset the power bill or do anything at all to compensate? Nooooo! When asking Jordan the Manager, he said, "We did everything we had to." That's laughable. When I had told them several times the A/C had a leak but they never told the vendor this or insisted it be fixed. Their attitude is disappointing at best. Our dryer broke and 3 weeks later the maintenance lady Becca came and installed it. She turned on the gas and left without checking it. I happened to come home and the whole apt smelled like gas perfume. I had to open windows and doors to clear it out. She came back 10 mins later (which they bragged about, when it shouldn't have been turned on in the first place) and fixed it.
Since NXT Management has owned the property they charge for every little thing. We took down our Christmas decorations and set them on the porch to get them organized to put away. The next day they slapped a $25 charge for having something besides furniture on the porch. Then when we were debating about getting a support animal we had a cat at our apt to check it out and they charged us $795 for having an unauthorized pet. They only took charges off after we showed them photos of where she lives. That's when they explained we cannot even have an animal on the property without it being approved. Wow! just Wow! We're not even allowed to have a visitor with a pet. So if my brother visits he can't bring his pets. That's outrageous!
They close the pool down every weekend because they can't get someone to monitor the video that they have. People do stupid things on the weekend when they know they can get away with it. They punish everyone else for it though. Like slapping a $100 charge for having more than 2 guests in the pool area.
Now after reading all of the negative feedback about people who moved out and had charges that were not communicated to them, we're afraid to move. But everyone I talk to that lives at Aldara says they want to get out. I do NOT recommend Aldara or...
Read moreAfter 4 months of moving, I received a notice of a court summons from you telling me that there was a collection account that had not been paid and that therefore it had been sent to legal collections. The most worrying thing about this whole situation is that you never sent the collection accounts to my new address or to my email which was delivered on the last day of the inspection. Once I contacted the people in charge, they told me that they had no way of contacting me and that for that reason everything had been sent to Collections! Did you know that on the last day of the inspection I signed the document where I wrote in my own handwriting the information of my new address, email and phone number? Did you know that you have a copy of this document? Did you know that I have a photograph taken of the document with all the specific information? What seems most curious to me is that you did not send the collection accounts to my address but you did send a collection account with an additional fee of $700 dollars for collections! Donât you find it strange that I was able to get that document to my new address but not the most important one with the billing accounts? Why have other people made these same comments through this medium? Where is the tracking number with the documents that you sent me? Where are the emails that you sent me so that I wouldnât have had to receive a court summons? I definitely recommend that no one live at Aldara Apartments! The apartments are old, they have changed more than 4 administrations in 1 year and their facilities are old and smell terrible! The bathrooms, especially the visitorâs bathroom, smelled like urine all the time, even if you wash it 10 times in one day! The floors are dirty and even if you mop 100 times they are still dirty and smelly! The washing machines are old and you have to keep calling to request service because they break down frequently and the dishwasher is not even worth mentioning! The refrigerator we had for two years had a bent door and they never changed it, it always stayed the same refrigerator! The garbage dumpster is small and every weekend from Friday to Sunday it looks like a municipal dump! Aldara charges a lot of money for what it offers, really do not pay that money because you are throwing it in the trash!! It is the worst place to live in Utah! Be careful with this place, I am being a victim of their negligence! Ah, a month and a half before I left, they forced me to stay an extra month because they didnât find the letter of termination of contract because on the same date there was a change of administration and I was harmed! More words, fewer words... Be careful...
