My family and I have been coming to this SPORTSMAN’S since we moved to Saratoga great place very organize and we thought all the staff was 10/10 ,we have purchased between my father and my brother over 13 guns at this locations and even the Manager know us by name when we come in Sadly on November 4 , my father and brother convinced our Father to get an AR-15 which we went to the store and got an Associate Named Barry from Hunting department , at the beginning he was nice , but once my father decided to purchase the AR and overheard that we spoke Spanish thing shifted a little bit different My father has a initiated the process of the background while my brother and I were still speaking Spanish occasionally and Barry remind us that we could not assist on anything , from the past experience we knew this but it seem out of the ordinary , at one point Noticed my dad typing on the IPad and nothing was registering on it and I told my dad “hey you’re not typing” and Barry with a firm voiced looked over me and said “Sir , I can repeat you you can’t help if a federal law and he’s grown man” which for that I’ve never received that noticed the lawfully breaking rule of telling him iPad was not functioning properly but afterward while in counter speaking with brother in Spanish he remind me again due he didn’t know if I was helping my dad due that he didn’t understand , for that we began a staring contest until they verified the application and since my dad provided a concealed permit and a residency card they mentioned that needed to call to immigrations to verify status even though we have a concealed permit until a Great employee that has help us many time named mark came over and explain that were in the right and did not need to For us this experience with Barry it felt targeted and not welcome and all the good experiences to be valid just for this encounter and myself and my family will no longer visit this location due to having employees like him But I wanna remark that Manager and employees like Mark and Mike are outstanding and never makes us feel that way or doubting Don’t work with Barry , he might do a citizen arrest for speaking Spanish...
Read moreI just had a crazy experience at the gun counter with the hunting manager Derek, who was one of the rudest employees I have ever dealt with anywhere. I walked up to the gun counter to have my rifle sighted-in and Derek asked me if I had “torqued it down.” I told him I had no idea what that meant and he asked me the same question again, “so you haven’t torqued it down?” I again told him I didn’t know what that meant. He then asked me a third time, even more condescendingly than the previous time, “so you’ve never torqued it down?” At this point, not knowing what else to say, I responded “I don’t know how many times I have to say that I don’t know what that means.”
Derek just stared at me before I asked him “is there anyone else that can help us?” When I asked that, his response was “well I’m the hunting manager and I’m going to ask you to leave the store.” I was actually in disbelief that I would be kicked out over…. what exactly???…. I tried again asking if someone else could help us but Derek just doubled-down that he was the manager and we needed to leave because I had a “bad attitude.” So apparently being the hunting manager means you have the right to be a complete jerk to your customers, then kick them out when they ask if someone else can help them. Which is crazy because whenever I have been in a managerial role in my career, I’ve always thought one of the main responsibilities of being a manager was to take care of my customers, not chase them away.
It seems like Derek is nothing more than a jerk on a power trip because someone at Sportsman’s made the (bad) decision to give him a manager label. I hope someone in upper management is reading this and does something about it because there is no way Sportsman’s can provide any kind of decent customer service while employing someone like Derek (let alone employing them in a managerial role). Employees who act like Derek are just going to drive customers away and lose business for...
Read moreMy little brother tried to come return a shirt; originally the blonde cashier was helping about to do the return, joci or jaci (short girl with glasses) butted in saying they couldn’t return the shirt because it smelled like someone had already used it. The shirt had been in the bag since it was bought because my brother didn’t realize it was a girl shirt and not a shirt that was for him. They asked to speak to a manager, and she proceeded to tell them no because the manager was going to be mad so they left. I ended up coming Not even an hour later and asking to do the return and she had told me the same thing. The shirt smells like it’s been used. I proceeded to ask the customer behind us and everyone around us if the shirts smell like it had been used and no one said it smelled like it so I asked to speak to the manager and she called her . At that point, I also asked her why she didn’t get the manager when my little brother Asked for her and she said I didn’t want the manager to yell at them. I have seen her do that before. The manager came up and asked us what we needed And I said I need to return the shirt and the cashier girl popped in and said the shirt smells like it’s been used. The manager checked it and checked the tags and the receipt and let us return it. At this point the only thing I can think of is my brother had a very strong accent, and I don’t see why she made a big deal about returning the shirt when it was in perfect if Employees act like this they are going to lose a lot of customers, especially customers who are different races because at this point we Thinking this was a...
