I went to La La Luna earlier this year, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. It was probably the most relaxed my body has ever felt. I’ve recommended this place to several friends, and I was so looking forward to going back.
However, I went back for another massage today, and it was a pretty strange experience. I have a bad knot on the right side of my neck, and it doesn’t feel much better at all after having gotten the massage. The masseuse honestly worked more on the left side of my neck even after I had communicated on my paperwork as well as verbally during the massage where the pain was. She would linger on the knot for a moment and then move on quickly. At first I thought she was just trying to mirror the massage on both sides of my body so that it was even, but again, she focused more on the left side in the end. The massage in general didn’t flow very well; my body felt pretty tense, which is the opposite of how I felt leaving La La Luna upon my first visit.
I would hope that this is a one-off experience; almost every review on here is positive, and if most massages are like my first experience, they deserve their 4.9 stars. Still, for my individual experience there, I’ve had 50/50 odds about whether or not I’m going to get a good massage or not. I feel really disappointed, especially since my doctor had recommended a massage would probably really help my neck, whereas now it feels like it does after a regular...
Read moreI legitimately can't say enough good things about Lala Luna! My husband and I went in for a much needed couple's massage, and both exited saying "I think that was the best massage I've ever had in my life."
My husband's therapist was Amy and my therapist was Diane. Truth be told, I generally do NOT enjoy massages given by female therapists. I carry a bunch of tension in my shoulders and upper back and have often found that male therapists are more effective in breaking up the tension. Diane - and Amy, from what my husband said - are the exception!
I really appreciated the time Diane took to understand my "problem areas," and when she started in on the tighter muscles she really brought the pressure in a way that was comfortable and maintained my relaxation. The massage was incredibly attentive to trouble spots, gentle on non-trouble spots, and intuitive with my body when pressure was not enough or too much.
The spa itself is fabulous. Simple, no-pressure, unassuming and client-focused. I very much love the fact that couple's pricing is just the cost of two massages - upcharging people for sharing an experience bums me out. It smelled good, was quiet, was comfortable, and the "ambiance" music was really relaxing (trust me, this makes a difference, you'll notice it if you go somewhere where it sucks). We've committed to visiting at least quarterly and you can be sure we'll be requesting Amy and Diane -...
Read moreA friend sent me a gift certificate to Lala Luna in Nov. of 2021. At the time, Lala Luna was closed due to Covid, and their website indicated they would be opening some time in the future. They remained closed for months.
In December 2022, I attempted to redeem my gift certificate, at which time a woman at Lala Luna indicated that the gift certificate had expired.
I researched the expiration of the gift certificate on the website of the company that issued it (not Lala Luna), and it was clearly stated that there was NO EXPIRATION on their gift certificates, and a full refund was to be applied in the case that "either party" (i.e. sender/recipient) is not satisfied.
I called Lala Luna again to address the matter, and spoke with the same woman. She was only willing to provide the massage (after getting caught). When I attempted to address the refund, she seemed to pretend she didn't understand me due to a language barrier.
I attempted to acquire a refund from the issuer of the gift certificate, but they expressed little to no hope in obtaining it as they have "little to bargain with" in getting Lala Luna to make good on their agreement. It's been over a month, and I haven't heard back from the gift certificate vendor.
Lesson learned: Lala Luna is not a good faith business. I would strongly recommend avoiding their dishonesty, gaslighting,...
