I don't think they're actually ready for customers yet, and pushed their opening to catch the last months of summer. There's still some kinks they should probably work through.
First off, the setting is beautiful. The view cannot get any better. It's right along the water, you can paddle to the brewery, you can see the bridge, and on a summer's day, it's a great time to enjoy a brew.
There's a lot of seating-- only if there were any actually available. There's a ton of people and on a Seattle summer's day? They're all taken up. It was actually quite frustrating trying to get a seat since 1 person is always waiting for 4 other people that aren't there yet or folks were not willing to share. Not sure what the seating will be like during the colder months since there were no indoor seatings that I saw.
You order at the counter, but then you're waiting to pick up your beer on the other ender of the counter. Imagine it being like at a coffee shop where they take your order at the cashier, you wait 5-10 mins, then they call you for your beer. If you order food, you're not supposed to sit down first, you need to get your beer first. But there are no seats! You see servers scrambling looking for the little order number to drop off food.
We ordered their nachos, but it came out with only 3 things: chips, cheese, and the protein. Where's everything else?? We had to go back up and ask for the onion, corn, and tomatoes that was stated on their menu. The person that assisted was nice, but there was no apology. And even when it was corrected, there were very subpar nachos. Definitely not what you think of when you order nachos. Where’s all the beans, salsa, guacamole, etc??
Beer was okay. We ordered beer that weren't Gasworks brewery, so I can't speak on their beers yet.
I say wait until 6 months later until...
Read more(3rd visit) It was my third visit, and I still like most things about this store. However, around 6 p.m. on May 9, I felt that the female staff member at the counter was unfriendly. I’m not sure if it was because I’m Asian or because she was having a tough day, but it left me feeling quite uncomfortable. I don’t feel like coming back for a while.
(1st, 2nd visit review) This place has already become incredibly popular. I’ve visited twice, and both times it was packed. The biggest downside is having to wait over 30 minutes in line just to order a beer—but the food and beer are fantastic, so it’s still worth it. The location is stunning, and there’s really no better spot in Seattle to enjoy a beer outdoors. It’s a place that shines even more as summer approaches.
Everyone seemed to be drinking the strawberry cider, so I tried it too—the tart flavor was really refreshing. But personally, my favorite was the B-line B-side IPA. It’s rich and hoppy with just the right amount of bitterness. The Northgate Lager, on the other hand, was just a standard lager—decent, but I’m not sure it’s worth the price. If you’re a fan of bold, hoppy beers, go for the B-line.
And the food? Genuinely delicious. I did notice a slight drop in quality and portion size when it was super crowded, which was a bit disappointing. But even then, the $16 nachos felt totally worth it—generous and flavorful. I definitely want to try more items on the menu.
The only real issue is how overwhelmingly popular the place has become. It’s hard to find a spot to sit. I hope they’ll consider expanding the outdoor seating area and adding more staff to help ease...
Read moreEdit: Finally made it back, 10 months on. I liked it a bit better. They’ve fleshed out shade options. I didn’t drink this time, so still can’t comment on the quality of beer. But we did kayak up which made for an epic time. I’ll try and edit once I finally have a brewski.
I went and wanted to order a small pour as I was riding the BG and looking to just try it out. They told me they only do pints. Very unusual and a bit frustrating. I said okay and just didn’t order; hopefully this is temporary, as they had abundant small glasses sitting there for samples. I came back later when I was able since it’s a neat location and I love supporting local breweries, esp. new ones. I got the fruit punch sour and could not finish it. Tasted like spiked emergen-c. Hopefully the kinks are worked out and next time I’ll try a more classic style. The pint was also $10.50, before tip! That’s more than I’ve seen anywhere else, except maybe DruBru. I guess the spot is expensive and with no indoor seating, they really have to make the money during the summer…also very little shade or covering (yet) so if it’s hot or rainy just be prepared to sit out in the elements. I’ll go back eventually and try a different beer and hopefully I will enjoy it more, but the combo of bad beer, no shade/covering and high prices makes me less than keen to go again; at least it’s a beautiful view and right...
