This was a good experience. It's much more affordable than the space needle. You can walk around the whole floor and this is specifically the 73rd floor. There are windows on all sides. Power outlets are available for charging. There's a restaurant and bar there for snacks. You are allowed to bring your reusable water bottle which is really something I value personally. Once you get up there you are allowed to stay until closing. The usher that handles the elevator crowds was really nice and happy to answer questions and offer up information.
The view was great! You can see Mt Rainier, and a lot of the city. If you are wanting to bring an SLR or tripods, I recommend you do so. There was excellent lighting for profile pictures around midday but as the sun got lower it got a bit trickier for those using phone cameras because you'd be backlit if using the city as a backdrop. Can still use angles to your advantage.
The bathrooms are gendered. There is no gender neutral restroom in the Sky Observatory. The women's stalls had two trash compartments for "hygiene products" instead of the typical one which was nice because one of them was getting pretty full. The latches on the stall doors would pop out if the stall was jostled so just something to...
Read moreMy wife and I went Sunday March 2nd. It was cloudy. Viability was 1,000 feet. We arrived at 11AM and we're promptly taken to the top. Not being able to see anything because of the clouds we noticed they have a bar there! Destiny, made two great, reasonably priced martini's that were excellent. Destiny was so much fun to talk to we ordered Lava Cakes. Pretty soon Christian brought them out. The cakes arrived on a China plate with a berry drizzle underneath. The presentation was as good as dessert at the Metropolitan Grill. Waiting for the clouds to clear we sipped on a couple of beers. Did I mention the prices are very reasonable? We ended up spending 4 hours up there. Sipping beer or wine, enjoying the views once it cleared and chatting with Christian and Destiny. It is amazing what 5 star staff can do for an establishment. In fact every person we came across, from the people at the ticket counter, to the elevator operators to the man wiping the tables down. Everyone was happy, friendly and seemed to be enjoying their jobs. Even after buying the tickets to go up and all the drinks and food our day at the Skyview was no more expensive than happy hour at Anthony"s Home Port and the view up top is so much better. Cant...
Read moreThis place has amazing views. We bought the 12pm upgraded experience for $45 on a Sunday and it was not worth it. The place was a little empty so no line for the elevator and we did not need window seats reserved as they were all open. We sat there for 2hours and no one came to ask us to leave. It doesn’t have the best lighting to take pictures with a view of the Ferris wheel or the space needle. We would have had the same experience with buying the general admission tickets. If you only have time for 1 place, skip this and see the space needle instead. Also, you can park at the Columbia center (in the building) and they will validate your parking for 75% off. However, we wanted to park there the whole day to see other sites but none of the staff members were able to answer these questions: Can you park here all day? Wha is the rate for parking? …..we asked the staff at the cafe and the security guard at the bottom. The street parking is free on Sundays but I attached the rates for the Columbia center parking for those of you that are wondering. The parking spots say 2hr parking but you can...
