It was fine
The hotel is a remodled old building. They did a fairly good job, but there were some details that gave the room a bit of an "ick" feel. Like, dont accidentally peep a corner, or look too closely at the ceiling, lower parts of the wall, the doors or the paint - you'll see filth, chipping, old watermarks. And because the hotel is old, it's old gunk. And there was a big spider in our room. If that doesn't bother you, then you'll be OK.
We got the handicapped room for some reason, and when we showered, the water was ALL OVER the bathroom. We used all of our towels and the weird robe they gave us to mop it up. They only give you two towels, so we used all of the towels after the first shower and were ignored by hoisekeeping for more. We tried to find a maid in the hall but were unsuccessful, so that and mopping a room while on vacation sucked.
There's no coffee in the rooms. You have to go to the lobby. So if you're a "coffee is the first thing I need before anything else" person, or someone with intense social anxiety who needs some preparation before leaving your room, you're SOL. If you're both (like me), you have a mini panic attack every morning just for coffee. If you're actually handicapped and want a cup of coffee first thing, you have to go through your entire morning routine (iykyk) before you can get a cup of coffee... so it's an incredibly abelist setup that kind leaves people with disabilities in the dark.
EDIT: Just saw that if you ask the front desk, you can get a Kurig brought up to the room? They dont tell you that when you check in. And Im assuming you'll need your own coffee, sugar, and cream. They should just say, "Kurig available upon request, coffee sugar cream and cups not included" on the website.
There's cold water in the lobby so you can fill up your water bottles down there. And there's a fridge in the room that can keep water or leftovers cold.
You only get valet parking for free if you're a certain level of the IGH rewards program, otherwise its $80 a day. We had to park half a mile away to not spend that money...again, incredibly abelist.
There is a $25 +$7 tax for the room, so it's actually $32 a day.
The television is old. You can't cast to it from your phone, so you're stuck with basic cable or pay per view. This is just weird in 2024.
The bed was REALLY soft. You sink in when you get on it. It sort of envelops you. Which was nice the first night, but I woke up in so much pain, LOL. The carpet is really soft so I slept on the floor the next night. But that's more of an individualized sort of thing. Its probably a dream for people who like soft beds :) also the bedside table is right next to the bed which would suck if you have to get in and out of a wheelchair (I only mention this because its a handicapped room)
The check-in and out process was very easy, and they sent a text when we got to the room to make sure we were OK. They dont respond to replies, but I guess the aknowledgement was good.
The food is too expensive. A burger and fries for $26 plus tax is dumb. The burger is a small artisan style burger. Very good burger, but it was much cheaper to get Door Dash from one of the many amazing restaurants in Seattle that are nearby.
Last is the location, which is absolutely perfect. It was easier to get to the market than our car, LOL. The location is close to everything downtown. The hotel is boxed in with other buildings so you can't see the water from any of the rooms but it's very close. Just some hills to navigate. You can feel the breeze from the water between the buildings.
Overall, it was fine. I won't stay here again when in Seattle. It was expensive, the rooms had the ick" factor, the beds were too soft, the bathroom flooded, there's no coffee or easy to access water, not enough towels, and the food was absurdly priced. There are cheaper hotels in that area with the same, if not better ameneties. The three stars are because of location, and the rooms aren't good for me, but I think for less meticulous guests it will...

Giving one star because zero isn’t possible! I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at this hotel, and I must say it was a complete disaster from start to finish. I cannot emphasize enough how much I regret choosing this place for my stay.
First and foremost, the lack of wifi access in my room was beyond frustrating. I had poor range in my room which would disconnect often. It's the 21st century, and not having reliable internet connectivity is simply unacceptable. The hotel's claim of providing wifi throughout the premises turned out to be a hollow promise as I struggled to even get a signal. This made it nearly impossible to get any work done or stay connected with my loved ones during my stay.
As if the wifi issue wasn't bad enough, the state of the room itself was appalling. I was greeted with the unpleasant sight of hair strands scattered on some of the pillows. It was clear that the room hadn't been properly cleaned or maintained before my arrival. This lack of attention to cleanliness made me question the overall hygiene standards of the hotel.
To add insult to injury, the sliding door of the toilet didn't have a lock. Privacy should be a basic expectation in any hotel, and I was shocked to discover that such a fundamental feature was missing. This oversight made me and my partner feel extremely uncomfortable during my entire stay.
Another major drawback of this hotel is the complete absence of parking facilities. It's inconceivable that a hotel in this day and age wouldn't provide any parking options for its guests. This resulted in me having to park my car far away and endure long walks with my luggage, which was a major inconvenience and hassle.
One of the most basic amenities that any decent hotel should provide is toothpaste and toothbrush. Surprisingly, this hotel failed to meet even this basic expectation. It was shocking to find out that these essentials were not available in the room.
Furthermore, the absence of a coffee maker in the room was another major letdown. Instead of having the convenience of making a cup of coffee in the comfort of my own space, I had to go to a common lobby room to access the coffee maker. This not only wasted my time but also made me feel like I was staying in a cheap motel rather than a supposedly reputable hotel.
And they charge $25 per day and call it “amenities fees”! I wonder what those are!!
However, the most disappointing aspect of my stay was the behavior of the front person, Alejandra. From the moment I approached her with my concerns, she displayed a rude and presumptuous attitude. It was clear that she had no intention of helping or addressing my issues. Instead, she seemed disinterested and unhelpful, leaving me to deal with my problems on my own. Her lack of professionalism was truly disheartening and made my experience even more unpleasant.
The only redeeming quality of this dreadful stay was the courteous door man stationed at the hotel entrance. Unlike Alejandra, he displayed exemplary customer service skills and was always willing to assist guests. His presence was a rare glimpse of warmth and hospitality in an otherwise abysmal experience.
In conclusion, I strongly urge potential guests to think twice before considering this hotel. With a range of issues including the lack of wifi access, uncleanliness, absence of a lock on the toilet door, no parking facilities, rude staff, and the absence of toothpaste, toothbrush, and in-room coffee maker, this establishment clearly falls short of even the most basic standards of hospitality. Look elsewhere for a hotel that values your comfort and provides the amenities and service...
Read moreI came here for pride and generally speaking everything was fine and staff was mostly nice, but after having been here for a couple of nights I can't help but feel like my relaxed demeanor and tendency to dress down meant that I was being treated slightly differently than other guests. The first night I was here, there were a few folks standing in front of the restaurant door discussing work. I stood there for some time being totally ignored before I went back over to the front desk to inquire whether the restaurant was open. The desk clerk said it was, so I went back over, but had to interrupt and ask to be helped before I was; the next day a very helpful valet went and fetched a charging cord from my car and found that if I actually get service, I tip! But again, that evening at the restaurant, after I managed to get my order in with someone, the food runner came out with my milkshake, my eyes got wide and I said "Hi!" to him because I knew that was for me, but he looked me over and decided to serve the drink to the empty glass and empty barstool next to me instead. I said "Oh!" and he walked away like I didn't exist. A few minutes later the bartender returned and gave me my milkshake, but I had already been made to feel like I didn't belong there. Then, the next morning, I asked to have a taxi called, but there was so much confusion with guests over whose taxi was whose out front that I just ended up walking (actually, I did get into the cab and had to get out again because it apparently wasn't my cab, but that's okay, the cabbie was a jerk too). Now, honestly, I'm a nice person and I've worked in service, and I was going to let all of this go until today. Today is the day that Seattle Pride was right out front - now keep in mind that I booked this hotel for that reason and stayed here three nights in a suite about it - so once I'd walked back from breakfast since nobody wanted to take me up the hill, I saw that they had a (bad) DJ and a drag queen out on the restaurant porch for their own little pride party. I thought, "Great! That'll be perfect." I went once again to the restaurant, asked to be seated outside and the host TOLD ME NO. He informed me that that was a ticketed event and I would have had to make reservation ahead of time. Oh, okay. So I went to the front desk to inquire about getting a ticket or otherwise gaining access. There I was told, "Huh, I don't know, usually it is for hotel guests" but was not interested in providing further assistance. Very unhappy with this outcome, I went out to the guy that was serving drinks outside and asked him. He said, "What? Who said you couldn't come in here? Of course you can, come sit down! What would you like to drink?" So, I'm not sure what it is about me, but I am apparently not this hotel's demographic. And while the room is very pretty, it's not so nice as to cancel out how the people here have made me feel. Therefore, I will not be returning to any Kimpton hotel anytime soon. They believe themselves too fancy for me and honestly, they can have it. Nothing here is worth what I paid for it, and I'm going home feeling like I never should've come...
