I recently had the best first perm experience at Happy Boys Hair Salon with Samuel! Samuel transformed my hair from naturally straight/wavy to beautifully bouncy and curly. I highly recommend this salon and will definitely come back!

Highlights: Amazingly professional: I arrived to my appointment with minimal research about what perm style would look best on me because I had full trust in Samuel’s professional opinion. I found Happy Boys Hair Salon through a friend who had a beautiful curly perm and decided that I needed to come too. After my perm finished, I was sooo happy with the end result! Almost a week later, I still love how curly my hair is and how well it has held up. I had a trim and a Japanese digital perm and honestly felt that this was the best hair transformation I’ve ever had! My friends and coworkers also noticed and complimented my hair! Phenomenal customer service: I have never chemically treated my hair before, so I had a lot of questions. Samuel answered all of my questions with kindness and patience. Additionally, I felt very comfortable and taken care of throughout my 4-5 hour perm appointment. You will really feel like the only client even if there are others getting their hair cut at the same time. Connie, another stylist who was present during my appointment, also took great care of me. Thank you so much! Incredible attention to detail: After my perm completed, Samuel continued to touch-up and perfect my hair. I really appreciated his thorough follow-through and sincere commitment to ensuring that I had an amazing result. Another small detail that I noticed at the end of my appointment was that Samuel even secured my jacket with extra care on the hanger, twisting the small loop of fabric on the inner part of the coat twice around the hanger's hook. Warm and welcoming atmosphere: As soon as I rang the doorbell, the stylists greeted me. Since I was getting a perm, my appointment was around ~4.5 hours long, but I had a great time chatting with the stylists and reading. I was very relaxed, especially in the really nice chairs they have for clients! Multiple languages spoken: in addition to fluent English, the stylists who I met also speak Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese. Your style questions won't be lost in translation, and parents or older relatives who are more confident speaking in their first language will have a great experience as well! Convenient location: Located in bustling U District, Happy Boys Hair Salon is easy to reach from the Eastside as well as Seattle. If you like Asian food and boba, then you will have a great opportunity to treat yourself at nearby restaurants and shops.

I had a great experience getting my hair cut and dyed at HB (Happy Boys) Hair Salon!

Pros: They know how to cut, style, and dye Asian hair! They do all different styles of color, including modern/trendy colors like rainbow, pastel, etc. Very reasonable prices! (I got my short hair cut, bleached, and colored for only $330!) Availability! They have weekend hours and are usually able to make same-week (sometimes next-day) appointments -- so you don't have to wait for months like some other places. Very polite and friendly staff who pay attention to small details! (You do not need to be able to speak Chinese) Clean, safe, bright, and convenient location next to the U District Link light rail station.

I had shoulder-length black hair and wanted to update my look for summer. I asked them to give me a lightweight, short bob cut dyed ocean blue with natural highlights and dark roots. I knew it would be a lot of work since they'd have to bleach my naturally black Asian hair. (It ended up taking around 5 hours.) The HB team was very honest with me and recommended that I use a darker and cooler blue color than what I originally wanted -- since it'll get lighter as the color fades.

I wasn't quite sure how to ask for what I wanted (this is only the 2nd time I've ever colored my hair) and at first when they cut my hair I thought it still was too long. They explained how they'd have to dye it differently if I wanted to cut it shorter, and after they finished all the color my stylist cut my hair a 2nd time exactly as I wanted! I was really impressed by how much he paid attention to detail and really checked to make sure my cut was flawless.

As a long-time customer of HB SALON, I was upset to see the store hit with groundless negative reviews recently. What worries me most is that people might misunderstand Stylist Sam’s skills, so I just have to speak up for justice!

I always book Sam for my haircuts, and he’s truly a stylist who puts "sincerity" into every service. Last week, I went to him with a vague request: "I want a short haircut that’s easy to maintain and can slim my face." Instead of casually recommending trendy styles, he first carefully observed my face shape and hair texture, even asked about my daily dressing style. Only after patient communication did he put forward a specific plan. During the haircut, he was extremely meticulous from sectioning the hair to handling the layers. He even let me check the effect from time to time to make sure it met my expectations. The final hairstyle not only perfectly modified my high cheekbones but also required little effort to style – I could just blow it lightly and head out. All my colleagues complimented me, saying, "You look like a new person, so energetic!"

Anyone who has experienced Sam’s service can feel how professional his skills and attitude are. Now, looking at those baseless bad reviews, it’s obvious they are malicious smears and deliberate framing. I sincerely hope everyone won’t be misled by fake reviews.
