In New York, we used to say that the Staten Island ferry was the prettiest cheap date in town: I think you could say the same thing about the water taxi to West Seattle. Even if you have no interest in exploring West Seattle, the views are more than worth the relatively minor fare for taking a very beautiful ride across the water. The pier is also worth exploring: the views that provides make it a destination in of itself. Aside from when the ferry is arriving, the pier is empty, but there is no problem accessing it, so I recommend lingering around the pier and looking out at the enchanting Seattle skyline on the other side of the water.

"Exploring West Seattle Water Taxi Pier: A Serene Escape from the City Bustle"

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the West Seattle Water Taxi Pier, and it was truly a delightful experience. Located just a short ferry ride away from downtown Seattle, this hidden gem offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Upon arrival at the pier, I was immediately struck by the picturesque surroundings. With stunning views of the Seattle skyline and the majestic Olympic Mountains in the distance, the setting was nothing short of breathtaking. The calm waters of Elliott Bay added to the tranquil ambiance, making it the perfect place to unwind and soak in the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

One of the highlights of my visit was the ferry ride itself. The West Seattle Water Taxi provides a quick and convenient way to travel between downtown Seattle and West Seattle, offering passengers a unique perspective of the city from the water. As we glided across the bay, I couldn't help but marvel at the panoramic views unfolding before me, from the iconic Space Needle to the bustling waterfront.

Upon reaching West Seattle, I was pleasantly surprised by the vibrant atmosphere of the area. The pier is situated in the heart of Alki Beach, a charming neighborhood known for its sandy shores, quaint shops, and eclectic dining scene. I spent hours strolling along the waterfront, admiring the stunning views and exploring the local boutiques and cafes.

Back at the pier, I took some time to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. With ample seating areas and panoramic vistas of the bay, it was the perfect spot to sit back, relax, and watch the world go by. Whether you're looking to escape the city for a few hours or simply enjoy a leisurely afternoon by the water, the West Seattle Water Taxi Pier offers something for everyone.

In conclusion, my visit to the West Seattle Water Taxi Pier was nothing short of magical. From the scenic ferry ride to the charming waterfront atmosphere, it was a day I won't soon forget. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor to Seattle, I highly recommend adding this hidden gem to your list of must-see...

We spontaneously decided to take the West Seattle Water Taxi during a trip to Alki Beach with our 2-year-old toddler—and it was such a fun little adventure for the whole family! The schedule is clearly posted at the pier, which made planning easy.

Payment options are pretty flexible: you can pay exact cash ($5.75 for one adult), use an ORCA card ($5 per adult), or download the Transit Go app to pay with a credit card. A quick tip if you use the Transit Go app—after downloading it, make sure to add your payment method in the settings before buying your ticket. Otherwise, the app only shows “pay at store,” which took me about five minutes to figure out since it’s not super intuitive.

Once you purchase your ticket on the app, you show it to the ticketing staff to “activate” it. From that moment, you have one hour to use the ticket, which means you can technically use the same ticket for a round trip—exactly what we did!

The ride itself took about 15 minutes, which was just perfect. We didn’t explore the pier downtown because it was pretty hot and our toddler was way more excited about riding the boat again. This simple, low-cost trip turned out to be a highlight for our family.

Highly recommend the West Seattle Water Taxi for a fun, easy, and affordable outing—especially if you’re traveling with...
