We stayed in the upper level apartment that looked out at the mountains. Yes, it looks over a convenience store rooftop but you don’t even notice that, as the view beyond is of the gorgeous mountains on the other side of Resurrection Bay. The lodging is within a 2-minute drive to the waterfront and would be a very easy walk too; the downtown area and SeaLife Center are not much further, so very convenient. Two convenience stores and a Safeway grocery are within a stone’s throw (easily walkable-2 blocks most). Lots of eateries on the waterfront. (Avoid “Ray’s”!)||The Suite had two queen beds, a four-seat bar-height dining table, a kitchenette complete with mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, plates, glasses, utensils, etc…everything we needed. A sofa and two extremely comfortable recliners face a large flat-screen TV; for this we were very grateful as we had some poor weather that kept us inside a good amount of time. When the weather improved, we were able to enjoy the nice deck, furnished with a patio table and four chairs.||The decor of the Suite kept to the “bears” theme and was very tastefully done. So cozy and aesthetically pleasing. In fact, we liked one of the framed prints so much, we contacted the artist and bought one for our own home! The heat worked well (was silent!) and there were blackout shades on all the windows to block out the late night daylight of the summer. No complaints about the shower pressure or the size of the bathroom; plenty roomy enough. Very nice that a hairdryer was provided as I hadn’t brought one. Plenty of clean towels under the sink, hooks to hang them near the shower. Honestly, the host, Shari, thought of everything when she put this place together! Everything was spotless when we arrived and it was a nice touch that coffee (regular and decaf), sugar and creamer were provided.||I doubt I will have an opportunity to visit Seward again, but if I do, I will call Shari and stay...
Read moreJust got back from spending two nights in Seward. Bears Den was perfect for our 7 adults and a baby. We had five adults in Den 3; two adults and the baby were in Den 2. We had ample room in Den 3 for all of us to meet to play cards. The dens are charmingly decorated in all things bear. We found the rooms clean and all our needs were met. The hosts are very responsive and even let us know when there were bears in the neighborhood. We had vehicles but occasionally we would walk to town. There is a path that goes under the road that is easy to walk to get to and from the harbor part of town. There were fresh cookies on the counter when we arrived that we promptly inhaled - we all agreed they were a delicious touch! Plenty of linen available, tableware was enough, the rooms were comfortable as were the beds. I guess the queen bed in den 2 can be s little creeky, I don’t think it woke up the baby but the parents were concerned. |I found the price very reasonable for the facility. We were going to try another place that was a third of the price, but after reading the current reviews, we cancelled and tried Bears Den. We are all glad we switched. I would highly recommend this place for anyone traveling to Seward. It was almost like home, but I didn’t...
