My family group of five adults, including one who was confined to a wheelchair, stayed at the Marina Motel in July 2023 for two nights. Having read many reviews before arriving we expected and found it to be a basic, but comfortable and clean place to stay. Three of our group stayed in the ADA room which, while plain, had "the best shower and best floors" of the three lodgings we used on our 10 day trip, the two others being a Springhill Suites (Marriott) in Anchorage and an Embassy Suites (Hyatt) in Seattle. Of the three, the Marina was the only one with a really easy to enter ADA shower and the only one with good skid-proof and "easy-to-push- a- wheelchair- across" floors. It's also worth noting that the Marina's location was perfect for getting a wheelchair to the train depot and the Major Marine boat tours, which were both just across the street and could be accessed via an underpass so you didn't have to cross the highway (although there were a few bumps along the way). That same underpass led you into Seward itself and we were able to use the ADA accessible free shuttle to get around town, though sometimes with a wait while the driver remembered how to work the lift. We did have a few problems with our rooms but Matthew in the front office did his best to handle them and in the end we were satisfied. ADA rooms aren't easy to come by in Seward and especially ones that can sleep three people, and we were very happy to...
Read moreI chose this motel because of it's proximity to the Alaska Railroad Station. It was bascially right across the street from the train depot. The location was perfect to come to right after the train. It was before noon, so our room was not ready, but they stored our luggage so we could go explore Seward. They sent us a text message when our room was ready which was awesome! We asked for our bags (that had been stored) and they had already moved our bags to our room, which was so helpful and appreciated. ||The Kenai Fjords Tours shuttle busses pick up from the lot directly behind this hotel and so it was super convenient to get on their shuttle from the motel. ||The room was very clean and comfortable. it was extremely simple (very motel-6-ish room) but very comfortable. The towels were awesome and the water pressure was great. It took a minute to get the hot water to the room, but once it got there, it was great.||The town of Seward is very tourist-friendly. A free shuttle that goes around 14 stops throughout the town was so convienent for the train and/or cruise ship traveler. There are multiple restrooms open to the public everywhere in the town. We had an excellent time in Seward inbetween the Railroad and Cruise ship. I hightly recommend you spend a day early in Seward before your cruise (or hand out...
Read moreI would rate her a zero if possible!! SO RUDE! My husband went to rent a room from the Marina hotel, we had a dog with us so we got a dog room. When we arrived, my husband flipped the mattresses and checked all around to find it still dirty. There was hair and debris on the floor, their was dirt all over, dog hair in the bed, and what appears to be a blood stain on the mattress cover. He was not comfortable staying here so we asked for a refund. The woman at the desk claimed she would refund the room, went through the process of it all. Come to find out, a couple weeks later, the charge was never refunded. I called to speak with her about it, I was nice about EVERYTHING, and was merely curious as to why we did not receive a refund. She got very rude and snapped at me, telling me that the room was not in a condition where she could rent it back out, nor would she refund me my almost 200 dollars for that trash heap, then hung up on me! I tried to call her back to even explain what had happened, and she won’t even answer the phones! What kind of service is this?? She won’t even give me the time of day to try and reason with her. We weren’t there but 10 minutes. I suggest asking to inspect the rooms before renting it, you might not like what you find in...
