Coastal line - Gold Star - Too expensive It was a good experience with the views.. They could speed up a little bit and make it on 3 hours from Seward to Anchorage. No wonder there were no young adults or middle aged given the pace of the ride. The most upsetting thing was - Constant talking and commentary by the crew/guide They randomly say things like hey there is a moose once in every 15-20 minutes. We spotted none all through the journey. Food was pretty bad for non meat eaters. The staff were very kind.. unfortunately they are instructed to keep talking all the way and throw facts. We are here to enjoy the ride and views. Need some quiet and peace. Sharing facts and interesting history here and there is fine Every single tour employer in Alaska is taught to talk about types of salmons, 1964 earthquake, moose. If you do 5 tours in Alaska, 98% of the facts shared are the same. Would recommend carrying a noise cancellation headphones if you want some time with nature.

We took the train from Anchorage to Seward to board our cruise. Best way to transfer. Beautiful sights on the way. Crowded at the train terminal. Best to arrive early but not necessary if you book the Panorama car because seats are reserved there. The view and service are well worth the extra amount. Book early because it fills up. Takes awhile to be served breakfast so bring snacks. There is a bartender for the entire trip in the Panorama car. I am not sure about coach.

Took a goldstar ride to Anchorage. Views were great, and drinks were awesome, but felt that the dinner service was underwhelming and slow. Worst thing is that you will miss a lot of announcements that they cut off from the lower sections while you are dining. The transparent dome is pretty nice, but they really should clean it after each trip. And it has that irritating illusion (of mountains stretching) when you are vibrating in certain segments of the train ride.

The girl at the ticket counter (pretty, slender, with long dark hair) was a witch to put it nicely. She told us the menu for food was on the wall but then, when we went to eat dinner, the menu wasn’t correct. It was cold outside and when we went to close the the door, she barked at us saying it needed to be open. There is no reason anyone needs to treat people that way. On top of it all, we had a ton of luggage taking up room in the waiting area that was full of people and she should have told us we could check it. It was fun riding the train and the views were beautiful and could not be seen...
