I loved EVERYTHING about this hotel. I was driving cross country from VA to WA and this was by far the best hotel out of all the ones I stayed at-and the price point was the same as well! I was floored. I felt safe (as I was traveling as a single female with my two pets) and comfortable the entire time. Checking in was a breeze. The girl at the front desk was professional and kind. She answered ALL of my questions (and I had many) with a smile on her face, I never felt as though I was bothering her. I loved how accommodating this hotel was to my pets! The recptionist asked if I had a dog or a cat. I said "Both" and I recieved two little treat bags! One for each animal. This is a very small and simple gesture but I felt like it really made this hotel stand out amongst the rest-this was PURE hospitality right there. Very smart too to add the cute little directions reiterating the animal rules in the nicest way possible. And my pets LOVED the treats! Even my picky cat! Which was nice. They had been through a lot since they both hate driving in the car and we were on day 3 of 5 (hoy-vey).
I had read prior reviews about how rooms smelled weird--didn't experience that. I also read a lot of reviews about the bad noise levels being next to the pool and all. Well, pro tip! If you have an animal you are automatically placed at the other rend of the hotel away from all of the noise! (Also, you could really just ASK for a room away form the pool if you're not going to use it-they are very accommodating).
I loved the breezeway over the street. It made getting breakfast less stressful. haha. Also, don't even get me started on breakfast! I was one of the first to come down and get some (As I was to leave my room at 6:30Am sharp in order to stay on track of my cross country drive) and I was greeted by the chef! He was so nice, explained where everything was, and checked on me to make sure I was okay. Great customer service. And the breakfast spread was OUTSTANDING! I do not care for carbs and sugar and JUNK for breakfast, and while they had plenty of that (because 90% of America eats this way) they also had a WONDERFUL selection of meat. So, two types of scrambled eggs--plain and one with cheese and seasoning --DELICIOUS, and pork sausage! And this sausage was wonderful! Thick and juicy! Now, I'm comparing this to the other 5 hotels that served me breakfast which was either NOTHING because all they had was carbs and sugar-not real food in my opining- or hard boiled eggs and powered eggs (yes, thats a thing). So to me, this was easily the best meal I had on the entire trip. I was over the MOON!
Check out was a breeze. I just left my keys in the room and left and my bill was e-mailed to me. really saved me on time since I had to make about 7 trips up and down the stairs in order to get all my things and my pets thing to and from the car to the room.
I had an absolute splendid time here! Im disappointed in the bad reviews I had read on Yelp (thats where I do most of my reviewing) because I almost didn't come due to the negative vibe I was getting. But Im here to say Nay to the haters! This hotel is great! MUCH better than most and DEFINITELY better than any I had stayed at during my travels across the country. Ask questions! If you don't like your room, TELL THEM! They will do the best they can to accommodate you. My opinion might be bias due to not having kids and not caring about the pool situation. At that point you're on your own. But really, this hotel is great and Im so happy I ended up...
Read moreI have to separate my view of the room from the hotel overall since the hotel is nice, but the room was not. ||||THE HOTEL:||||The lobby is attractive and the breakfast served in the morning is pretty complete and has lots of room for the guests. ||||There is a nice pool, but we didn't use it.||||It's location at the edge of the downtown makes it very convenient to go walking in this pretty town.||||One of the other patrons commented that the staff had been very helpful when he had a problem.||||THE ROOM:||||While this place got good reviews, I am having a hard time imagining why. It is desperately in need of renovation. It is an older hotel and the rooms are small compared to most Best Westerns we stayed at. It has a number of quirks... The lobby and the breakfast room are across from the rooms over an elevated crosswalk that has no circulation so it was probably 125 degrees in there.||||The first thing they told us was that they don't have housekeeping services so if you need anything, just go over to the office (across the street).||||The bed is OK and they offer lots of pillows. There is no desk and electrical outlets are very limited. The ones on the front of the lamps are effectively non-functioning since the connections are so loose that you have to prop up the plug or it will slide out of the socket. (We both need O2 units at night so outlets are a must.)||||The bed is OK, but is a bit too soft so it dumps you if you get to close to the edge. The pillows are nice. It is old and had a topper put on it to help flatten it out||||The shower / tub combination has been painted on the bottom of the tub. There were baseboard heat units that have been partially stripped off the wall.||||They have a coffee pot and a refrigerator, but the microwave is down in the laundry room at the far end of the building.||||The internet is slow.||||For the condition of the room, please see the associated photos.||||They say they are renovating it. Until that is complete, I would not recommend this place.||||Show less||Date of...
Read moreThis review is for management and infrastructure related issues: It's low due to the lack of maintenance and cleanliness our "pet friendly" room had compared to other pet friendly room/hotels we've stayed at over the last two weeks.
Mainly my review is to share that while the sheets and linens were clean, (meaning the cleaning staff likely are doing the extent that the management requires and for which they are provided supplies) the carpeting had likely received no cleaning ever, and held a stench that I've not smelled anywhere other than when I've worked at dog kennels. We nearly left due to the lingering odors in that room, except for the fact we had driven so far in storms we needed to sleep. Besides how filthy the room was, which, is NOT typical of pet rooms anywhere else I've ever stayed, the bathroom door wouldn't close, the sink is leaky, the shower spews everywhere, and the exterior door doesn't lock naturally, only with a chain and manually turning lock. Best Western needs to tear that carpet out do a deep clean, replace some doors, put in vinyl for at least their pet rooms and do some routine maintenance on the facility. If you have pets, I'd stay elsewhere, the pet room we had was disgusting.
And....for service, everyone was nice and efficient. However, it's obvious the front desk person has not been given adequate training for explaining options for parking. Each floor level room has an exterior door with associated very convenient parking. Front desk person had us park on the opposite side of the building go through two doors, and walk (with child and dog and gear) quite a distance through buildings. I would not be surprised to learn she's not been given a walking tour of the facility and is paid only to be at the desk. Literally the parking is immediately adjacent to the exterior room doors. That was a nice thing...
