Top notch products at reasonable prices and even better service! My and wife and I recently moved into a home that has a central vacuum system. The system is about 25 years old, and we needed new accessories so I searched the web for a local dealer. Enter Jay and Donna at Certified Vacuum. I was looking for an electric attachment that does carpet. Jay took the time to explain the various models he offered, their price points, and the pros/cons of each. He asked the right questions to help us assess our specific needs and make an informed decision. There was zero pressure or upsell tactics in play. Jay's goal was to sell us the best solution for our needs.
After using our system at home, I recognized that it had very poor suction. I called Jay to schedule a service appointment. He explained to me up front the likely possibilities- either a blockage or a failure with the unit's motor which was quite old. He took the time to explain how he would deal with a blockage and walked me through the options I had if the unit's motor had indeed failed. Jay went out of his way to make sure I understood that buying a new unit was not the sole option if this was the case. I decided that it would not be worth trying to repair/replace the motor if it had failed so I asked Jay about options for a new unit. Once again, he took the time to understand our situation- the size of the house, inlet configuration etc. and then educated me on the various options so that I could make an informed decision. When I asked for his recommendation, he pointed out 2 Cana Vac units. One was $100 more than another. He helped me to understand the difference between the two so that I could determine whether or not the upgrade was a good value. In the end, it turned out to be a failed motor and I asked Jay to install the new Cana Vac unit. He did a fantastic job and the performance of the system is amazing!
After all of this, my wife and I decided that we wanted to install a dust pan inlet in our kitchen (very cool feature for those quick clean ups where it is faster to just grab a broom and sweep into this floor inlet). We went to Jay's store to buy this accessory. Jay was quick to point that while he could perform the installation, it was a fairly easy job for someone who is handy around the house. I opted to give it a try. Jay went out of his way to make sure that I understood the installation procedure, going so far as to walk me next door to his own house to show me the unit installed, and what it looked like from the basement. He made sure that I understood all of the required tools, and even offered to let me borrow one of his drill bits. I ended up getting the unit installed on my own, and it works great!
Through all of our experiences, Donna was working quietly behind the scenes to make sure the transactions and scheduling process went smoothly. She even helped to entertain our 3 young children so that we could focus on our discussions with Jay, asking them about school, Christmas and even giving them balloons to play with!
I can't say enough good things about our experience with Certified Vacuum. You rarely find this level of service nowadays. If you are in the market for a vacuum be it central or portable, treat yourself to the Certified Vacuum experience. You will not be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have a central vacuum system that has served well for more than 20 years. Weāre about to sell the house and were cleaning it up this past week for an open house on the weekend. Just as we had begun vacuuming, the system suddenly went on the fritz, putting our open house preparations at risk.
I know nothing about the inner workings of a central vacuum system so I called several repair services, not knowing if any were even open during this time of social distancing and business shutdowns. Jay at Certified Vacuum was the first to return my call.
During a quick call with Jay, he said that he would definitely come out to the house to do the repair. But he explained that there was something that I could try to fix the system myself, and might take only 10-15 minutes with no expertise needed.
I followed Jayās instructions and voila! Problem solved and I was back on track with the clean up for my open house.
Jay could easily have capitalized on the situation, made the house call, and charged me a boatload for it. He didnāt need to explain to me how to resolve the issue on my own. But he did, and asked for nothing in return.
It can be hard to find service providers who conduct their business with honesty and integrity. But Jay and Certified Vacuum is one such business. I would, and will return to this business in the future, comfortable that I will be treated fairly. I highly recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBy far, one of the most refreshing places of business I have dealt with in a long time. Extremely knowledgable, honest and kind. I am the mother of two young children and use my vacuum every other day. My Sears Kenmore crapped the bed after 5 years. Loved it, but the motor blew out. Certified Vacuum said they could fix it, but the other parts were time limited. I tried several vacuum repair shops- including Sears, and they ALL wanted money up front just to diagnose the problem. Here, I received a free estimate and several options moving forward. I was interested in buying a new vacuum, but hesitant given the price. Certified Vacuum let me trial a brand new SEBO for a week (unheard of, I know!) and I could clearly see why the price was higher. A quality vacuum made with non-disposable parts. Certified Vacuum also extended the manufacters warranty one extra year. I can't say enough about this business. It was really nice to be able to purchase something without feeling pressured, or that you were being taken advantage of for a sale. The fact that they were willing to repair the piece of junk I brought in says a lot as well. I would certainly recommend this business to anyone in the need of a vacuum expert, they know their stuff and...
