TLDR: Better shell selection than the main public beach, no public parking and very hard to get to, tiny stretch of public beach between private beach properties, may have snorkeling but not sure, bring water shoes.
Can this be considered a "public" beach? It's technically marked as a "public beach access" (#13) but there is absolutely no parking anywhere near it. I had my husband drop me off to see if it was worth trying to find parking and walking to it (we were hoping to snorkel). The actual stretch of beach that is public is very small. Looking to the right there is a rope with a sign that says private beach and looking left, not very far off there is a structure built right up to the water's edge that also has signs that say "private, no trespassing any time". I couldn't see many rocks from the beach area so I'm assuming you'd have to walk out into the water and around the structure to find any snorkeling. The water depth is the most gradual I've seen on a beach (if it's anything like the main public beach farther north) but I did not go in the water at this location. I just grabbed some pretty shells and let my husband know I was heading back to the road.
To park: the closest parking is public beach access #12 but there are hardly any spots, it's too narrow to allow larger cars (only 1 small car width wide, so no room to pass), and the "turnaround area" at the end is also very narrow. There is no waiting area to get a spot. IF you can get a spot, you may have to walk back out to the road and through the neighborhoods to get to beach access #13 to avoid the private...

My most special day was the one where the breeze was strong, lifting whitesand to the knee and swirling up into the air reminding us/me what sand blasting, done softly, brings a whole new dimension to walking the beach when many stay away
Hope you find special memories created for you compliments of...
Read moreThis adventure requires you to be (minimally) able-bodied. Limited parking is available at "Public Beach Access 12", which is a one-lane little alley at Old Stickney Point Rd. and Midnight Pass Rd.
Do not attempt to park near Access 13, your car will be towed away.
"Access 12" takes you directly onto the beach. A short walk South on the sand (10-min.) will lead to the narrow concrete retaining seawall by a house. Walk 30 feet to its tip, go down 4 mossy steps, cross ~20 feet of (very) shallow rocky sea. You're there! Lots of green moss covering flat rocks on this secluded beach (in front of private properties), pools of seawater with tons of interesting-looking seashells....
