The overall good reviews here were pretty spot on. Overall, this is a place to go to relax and have luxurious accommodations. It is not a resort with a lot of service or activities. The accommodations are wonderful. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable with every appliance and amenity you could need. (As others said, get groceries as the kitchen is high end and has everything you need. You can do laundry. There is a cooler to take food out to the beach.) The shower in our bathroom had water coming out of 6 different places! The beds were very comfy. It was hard to go home! The hotel is on a dead end street and it was pretty quiet. But a block away there was a 7-Eleven, a pizza place, a breakfast/lunch spot, ice cream, a couple bars, some restaurants. It was great to have so much in walking distance when we didn't feel like getting in the car or hopping on the free trolley. The beach was very nice with chairs and umbrellas and towels provided. It took us a couple days to realize that people get out there early and claim the front row near the water and then go have breakfast but as the beach wasn't very wide, it wasn't a huge deal when we got "back row." Pat, who got out chairs every day was super friendly and accommodating and when I was trying to finish a chapter in my book and it was past the 5:00 pick up time, he would get the other chairs and umbrellas around first and let me read longer. As others said the pool is small but we never even needed it. The beach and water are so nice (the softest sand that stays cool and warm, calm water we could use floats in). The valet and front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Siesta Key Village with many shops and restaurants is only a couple miles away. Other excursions we did were all within 20-25 minutes and easy drives (Jungle Gardens, Big Cat Habitat, and Mote Aquarium). Right over the bridge there is a Publix and many other stores and chain restaurants and the like. My daughter actually lost her glasses in the ocean and we were able to get her a new pair (made same day) at a Lens Crafters 10 minutes away! So there is really anything you could need on site or very close by. Our only complaint the whole time is that we were provided a list of activities at check in that included things like a "poolside treat" and "make your own sno cones." These things did not materialize and when my kids waited around for them, I asked at valet and was informed by one of the beach staff that she was busy doing other things and would get around to it. My kids waited 40 minutes one day for stupid sno cones that were not worth it. Again, not a big deal and I understand everyone is understaffed but just set the expectation. (Also, both times I asked about one of these things the front desk and valet guys were really nice and apologetic and didn't seem to know why it would be delayed. I also brought it up in the survey the hotel sent and someone from recreation called me. So good to know they do take guest satisfaction...
Read moreWe have been loyal guests of the Hyatt Residence Club in Siesta Key for years. Its unparalleled location on Crescent Beach has made it our favorite and the only place we stay when visiting the area. Although the residence club is on the pricier side, the conveniences it offers have always justified the cost.
Unfortunately, our most recent visit fell short of the standards we had come to expect. The issues began before our arrival when I attempted to add all guest names to the reservation. Despite being proactive to prevent any arrival issues, the agent on the Hyatt site refused, claiming it was a "change" not permitted by my reservation type. This absurdity wasted 45 minutes of my time and required a call to the front desk, where the names were added without issue. This incident highlighted a significant lack of training and customer service.
Once on-site, the convenience of being steps from the sand remained a highlight. The simple breakfast offering, although not a full breakfast, was a nice touch, and we enjoyed it on the balcony while listening to the ocean—a perfect start to our day. However, the cleanliness of our room was disappointing, with hairballs on the floor in the living room. Additionally, the furniture, carpets, and drapes looked dated and in need of a deep clean or replacement. The removal of heated toilet seats also suggested a decline in maintaining luxury details, raising concerns about the resort's future quality.
Another issue arose with the beach chairs. We arrived on a Friday afternoon, only to find the beach chairs being collected at 4 PM, leaving my elderly parents to struggle with sitting on the sand. While it may be the hotel's policy to collect the chairs at this time, it seemed excessive. On Saturday, our only full beach day, arrived late morning and were seated in the last row of chairs, closest to the property, and were the first to be asked to vacate our chairs at 4 PM. It seems the last to get there are the first to asked to leave.
Our attempts to extend our check-out on Mother’s Day were met with unhelpfulness. Despite it being clearly stated that such arrangements should be made the night before, we were told to call back in the morning, only to be denied due to high occupancy. This lack of flexibility, especially on Mother’s Day, was disappointing. On the day of departure, we felt rushed as staff knocked on our door promptly at 10 AM to ensure we were leaving.
In summary, we paid over $1,200 per night, but our enjoyment was marred by unhelpful policies and unaccommodating staff. While the location and spacious units are exceptional, the decline in service quality and inflexibility left much to be desired. It is regrettable that what was once our favorite retreat now leaves us questioning whether we...
Read moreI am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my recent experience at your property, which is advertised as a luxury 4-star resort. Unfortunately, the conditions upon arrival were completely unacceptable, and my family and I were unable to proceed with our stay despite already paying approximately $4,000.||When we attempted to check in, we were met with loud ongoing construction in the lobby. While waiting, another guest—who was pregnant and visibly upset—was crying at the front desk, saying that her family had been unable to sleep for three nights due to the noise.||Despite this, we were told our room was not ready and were advised to wait at the beach. However, access to the beach was blocked by construction, forcing us to walk a long detour. When we finally arrived, we found broken beach chairs, no towels, and no service whatsoever.||The pool area was also in terrible condition, with very limited service at the small bar and few available beverages. These conditions were nowhere near the standard expected of a 4-star resort.||Given these circumstances, we felt it was impossible to stay and made the difficult decision to leave with our family of five before even checking into our room. Despite this, management refused to issue compensation and instead told us to wait an hour in the lobby before informing us that the matter would not be addressed until “next week”—during a holiday weekend, no less.||We are therefore requesting a full refund of the $4,000 paid, as the resort failed to provide the accommodations and services promised at the time of booking. If this matter is not resolved promptly, we will be forced to escalate through our credit card company and other...
