This is a beautiful theatre with a rich history. It’s existence has been a labor of love, blood, sweat and tears of the folks who participate in its productions. However, I am sincerely disappointed in the recent changes when it comes to its administration. It used to be the Orpheum Community theatre. A space for all peoples of all skill levels and talents to create and display works “for the community, by the community”. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Selling out to the Pavilion has put a chokehold on the amount of volunteer opportunities for the community at large. Productions reek of nepotism. Technical aspects of the show have become cheapened. It’s become a cash grab, risk-less venue fearful of pushing the envelope so as not to offend the masses who may not ever get the chance to see or be involved in something besides a main stream or well known production. It used to be a place of opportunity, uncertainty and - most importantly - community, and it is sad to see the end...
Read moreBeautiful old theater with all the details intact. They had our tickets we purchased online already waiting for us. Seats were fairly comfortable for our two and a half hour show (not a lot of leg room and no cupholders for the concessions). We had balcony seats but I didn't feel like they impeded our view of the show, and the sound system made it so we didn't feel like we were far away. When my husband went to the bathroom during the intermission he said they had taken over one of the men's bathrooms for a womans bathroom, leaving one small bathroom for all the men in the whole building to try to get through during a 15 minute intermission. They really should remodel if what they have is not sufficient. Also, it was quite cold even for my husband who...
Read moreThe theater is beautifully restored. There is hardly a bad place to sit in the whole theater. I would have given a 5 star, but the whole process of buying our tickets on the internet is a nightmare!! The ticket prices when I first looked were at $60.00 per person. We really wanted to go but we can't afford that. I looked a few days later, and they were up to $88.00 ea. Then I looked at more sites and found some at $25.00 ea including the fees. It's really sad that a local production advertises $15.00 to $19.00 per seat, but the public (especially old people like us) think that we can't afford to go just...
