Repeat guest who . something is wrong here now. Left early - poor experience. week plus stay booked. chose because I felt it was the nicest place. Night 1- I had two rooms. one for a family member. That night there was horrible screeching traffic noise from our 4th floor rooms. I was fine with that as once I am asleep I do fine. But that would be a huge issue for some people. What got me is I couldn’t figure out how to turn off the lights from the bed. I figured the switch was hidden and I was tired so I walked around in the dark to get them off.
Night 2– I still can’t find the switch. At 1130pm I call front desk to ask if I just can’t find it, feeling dumb because it’s got to be somewhere, right? He says, oh they are by the side of the headboard. Phew I think. I got back. I can’t find them. I am too tired from a busy day to fuss with this. Walk around with my phone flashlight to get the light off.
Day 3 0700- I wake up. It’s dark (I like to sleep in pitch dark) I reach for my phone. It’s dead. So no light I knock down a soda in the dark on the bedside table onto a bunch of important papers because I can’t see and my phone is dead. I stumble in the dark. Turn on the lights from the only switch on the other side of the room.
I look more and I wish I had taken a photo I could attach. I forgot I was stressed by this point. There are dummy plastic things where I believe the bedside lighting should be. I call the front desk and ask if someone can come show me how to turn on/off lights from the bed. A nice woman who I like ( I believe it is not her fault) comes and looks at it. There are indeed no switches. The USB port also, is why my phone died. It the port doesn’t work. I then plugged in with an adapter - in the 10 minutes my phone and the adapter heat up. I show her how hot it is. I ask if I can change rooms and she says of course. I think she really wanted to help. She offers me a similar room on a higher floor or a king on 3rd floor she said is a much nicer room. I think, well I did sleep despite the noise so a nicer room sounds great! I pack up all my stuff I have all organized for my long stay. I go get a luggage cart. No one has offered to help me move and I didn’t ask, but if they had asked I would have said yes. I travel a lot, I know how to use a luggage cart and how the wheels work. By the time I am on the elevator I realize the wheels are bad. I wheel it anyway to the room. On floor 4 I happen to see an staff person. I show the staff person what has happened. I become aware of two things. That customers complain all the time about this, and the desk light that doesn’t work they won’t replace. The hotel knows this and is not spending the money to fix the problem. This is the nicest and most expensive hotel in town. Hmm. (also management if you figure out who told me and fire them i hope that person knows a good employment attorney. I do. So don’t fire them or the nice girl at the front desk who obviously wasn’t given the authority to do more for me- this is a management it starts at the top problem) I pile and organize all my belongings to move to 3rd floor. I wrestle the defective luggage cart to the room. I go in- it’s only a little bit nicer. Certainly not worth the traffic noise. I think- I want to leave. I find an Airbnb that is nice but now I will have to rent a car. I am feeling like a chump now.
I wrestle the luggage cart to lobby. I go to front desk. I do not wish to appear to be a “Karen” so I do not ask for a manager and maintain a friendly tone. I ask if I can just check out early. She says yes, kindly. ( I like her it is not her problem) I say hang on I need to confirm I can book the Airbnb. I succeed. I go back to desk. Say I got the Airbnb so yes I would like to check out. I have to reorganize my things in the lobby. The manager/sales? is there. I think she is aware of my problem but I am not 100% sure. I did maintain a calm and friendly demeanor. They certainly, 4 people can see a customer stuggling with the cart and no one asks if they can help. I am out.

Read moreI have stayed in hundreds of hotels, around the U.S. and in Europe. Hotel on Phillips is one of the BEST by far. Our check in took maybe one minute. My car was parked by the valet (for additional $15). The lobby and surrounding space was immaculately clean and comfortable. The gentleman that checked my wife and I in was very friendly and helpful. Any and all questions were answered right away. The elevators were close by, and fast. The hallway to our room was clean and smelt amazing. Upon entering our 5th floor room, we were greeted to a spacious room pleasantly furnished. I had ordered champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for my wife, and they were placed in the beautiful small refrigerator. On the bed were placed two over large plush robes. The queen size bed was the most comfortable, as were the pillows. We had a view of Phillip's street, and across the street Wood Grain brewery. |The bathroom is average size and very well stocked with items you might need on your travels. The shower was immaculate with the shower head came down from the ceiling. |We walked all around the area, enjoying four different breweries and a tap house. We walked to all but one, so we took an Uber. Every thing that a person may want is close by from Hotel on Phillips. The hotel has it's own bar off of the lobby in an old looking bank vault. We did not utilize all of the amenities that the hotel provided, but on my next visit I will take the time to roam around the hotel. |Check out the next morning again was short and complete. We plan on coming back again, and again. All of the staff at Hotel on Phillips; GREAT JOB! Thanks so much.||Brad...
Read moreWhen I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend with a friend our stay was more than subpar. When we were booking over the phone, no where in that interaction did they say that the Treasury would be closed all weekend even though we asked about their hours. They only told us when we were checking into our room. Then when we go up to the room it was a bit small and didn't look like a queen sized bed that we reserved, but not the end of the world. So we get ready and go meet up with friends and go down town and what not. On our way back to the hotel it starts storming like no other - hail, extreme winds, downpouring, tornado warnings going off. We get back to the hotel and there is no parking so we have to park on the street not knowing if we will get towed or not AND WE ARE COMPLETELY LOCKED OUT OF THE HOTEL, we have no way to get in at all. The sliding door isn't working (apparently they knew this was broken) and neither are any of the doors. We called the hotel about 15 to 20 times with no answer at all. I am ringing the buzzer non stop to try to get anyone's attention. Finally my friend pulls apart the sliding doors with his hands and we can get inside, we get up to our room and there is an inch of standing water in our bathroom!! We take all of our bathroom towels to dry this up meanwhile we get a knock on the door. It is front desk notifying that there was a tornado warning- which happened over an hour ago at this point. At this point we complained about everything and all she said was she would tell the manager to call us.. She didn't do anything to help us in that moment. Because of the lack of customer service we will not be...
