About six months ago, I would have given the theater at least 4 stars. I watch movies there often and usually use the Dolby Cinema. It was pretty great. But lately, Dolby Cinema has been sub-par, which is unacceptable given the price premium.
It began in May with the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story. We saw it opening weekend. When we walked in to the Dolby auditorium, there weren't the usual ads running on the screen. Instead, a test pattern was being displayed because a tech was clearly trying to focus the projector. They kept on going through slides and when one part of the screen got in focus, another part would go out of focus. The time for the movie to start arrived and you could tell the Dolby tech gave up. The center and right part of the screen were razor sharp, but the left and lower left corner were blurry. This was noticeable during the film and especially when text such as subtitles or credits appeared in the movie. If anything important is on the left or lower left corner of the screen and my eye focused there, the problem became very distracting.
After the showing I complained and the manager gave me a bit of an attitude saying that there was a tech in there that had fixed it. Luckily there was another customer who backed me up and I ended up getting complimentary passes. So, it was all good. It happens. No company is perfect.
A few weeks later I go see Incredibles 2. I figured that by then the problem would have been corrected. Nope. Still blurry on the left and lower left corner. Fast forward to Jurassic World 2 - still not fixed. I didn't complain in either of the showings because most of the time your eye is focused on the center and I just didn't want to go through the trouble. The last film I watched there was Ant Man and The Wasp. Still blurry in the same problem areas. That's almost two months time where a projection defect has gone uncorrected.
Dolby Cinema advertises itself as the premium movie going experience. You pay a premium for it. Even if I can ignore the problem for most of the movie because it is only on a specific portion of the screen, it still isn't right. They need to fix this.
If anyone watches a movie in auditorium 23 (Dolby), check for the middle left and lower left corner of the screen to see if it is still blurry. Easy to spot when text is on the screen like during previews or during credits. But you can see it all all times if you look for it. If you notice it, please complain. Maybe they will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a former theater employee and movie lover, this was a disappointing theater experience. Especially since it was our first time back to the theater in a bit and we were so excited. Letās get started, being greeted into the theater was a great experience. The guy scanning tickets had great energy that made us excited. However our issues began soon after. When we arrived, our pre-order concessions were not ready. We waited for a bit but no one seemed to make them until we alerted the staff. There wasnāt a big line so no big deal. But⦠even so, how was this not ready if the staff wasnāt slammed? Oh well. The staff was able to fill me a quick bucket of bottom of the basket popcorn. No Reeseās pieces. Fine. will get something else. No worries.
We go to get our drinks and The Coke machines were all out of Diet coke⦠at 3pm matinee on the Easter holiday. I love normal Coca Cola but my partner doesnāt. So she missed out on her fountain drink of choice. Everytime at the movies, i always go with Vanilla Coke. Unfortunately all of the flavors were out. Bummer. I could understand the flavored syrups and most of the other sodas being out (which they were). But for Diet Coke to be out was shocking. This is a top seller and fan favorite⦠Youād think this theater would be prepped and ready for a big day at the movies on a Holiday. Everyone knows that fresh popped corn and your favorite fountain soda and candies are a part of the magic of going out to the movies versus waiting to watch a movie at home. Please make management aware of this to prevent future customer disappointment. Sodas bags should be checked every few hours to stay ready for big movie showings. Especially on a holiday weekend.
Seats numbers in the theater were scratched out in our row but we were able to identify our seats. Spotlight was pointed right into our seats. Which was fine since with was going to dim eventually anyway.
Theyāll validate your parking which is great but i still had to pay a bit. Maybe bc the movie was over 2 hours long? Or maybe you should wait to validate after your movie. Not sure of the tip there
The saving grace for this theater was the Dolby cinema experience and the Sinners movie being top notch storytelling. Dolby cinema at AMC is always a great experience but this location left a lot to be desired from concessions to exiting. Most of these issues can be fixed though. Hopefully itāll be better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLarge lobby with the awesome coco-cola machines, Pays for half your parking, and amazing red soft seats! What isn't to love about this theater? If you out and about on a date or just relaxing with a couple of Friends you get the perks of a gorgeous Simon Mall and the perks of a AMC experience. It is typically a tad more expensive compared to Regal(Students get a discount on Thursdays!) ,but worth every penny! Click more to see my in-depth review!
Location: Simon mall has a well known reputation for making the most gorgeous malls ever, The Falls is a prime expampe. With Sunset you get a more City Broadway feel with the street that passes threw and all the niche places to shop and eat. Perfect for that movie date.
Setting: Huge lobby with awesome galaxy carpet that is straight out of the 70's. However despite how old it might be it still seems to be kept extremely well and regularly cleaned by staff. AMC also provides the amazing Coco-cola machines that have different flavors for every soda. With that said the theater is actually very big, with actually two concession stands, however I only seen the main lobby one be used.
Crowd: People seem to typically be nice and keep quite ,but its always a hit or miss. Like everywhere else you never know who is going to be with you watching the movie. I have mostly seen family come in large groups of 5ish. However I haven't had a problem with the type of people this mall draws in.
Comfortably: With the amazing galaxy carpet and its extremely fluffy red velvet movie chairs. Comfortably is amazing. The whole theater is just so welcoming and appealing. The Bathrooms are nice and well kept, also the theater it self is always clean. I would only say that I wish the seats where bigger ,but isn't really a problem.
Am currently having a problem where I am uncertain which theater is my favorite ,from The Falls or this one. I will say that this theater is perfect for a date night or a night spent with friends. If your a college student come Thursday and brig your ID! Also don't forget to stamp your parking ticket to get a nice...
